Diary Preview And Questions Thread

Recommended Posts

For a long time, I have wanted to do an ECW 1994 diary, based off Hive's '94 mod. And this is probably the first version of TEW where I'll throw caution to the wind and do it! It will start in July, two months before ECW became "Extreme", so the diary will begin with Eastern Championship Wrestling and slowly fase into Extreme Championship Wrestling...

Hi there guys. I started my RTG diary on this forum which I'm keeping pretty simple. But I must say that it isn't the most actrattive diary at the current stage. I would like to start another diary and keep going with that one on a simple basis. I'm thinking about WWE from 2004-2008. Any of these years would be good. But it's quite hard to find a database of that date. Could also go for an indepedent wrestling diary at the present day with the Real World Mod. Like How Pro-Wrestling Should be done. Ric Flair Promotions wouldn't be a bad idea as well.

What I would like to know is what do you find more interesting? Cause I have a lot of creative ideas when it comes to storylines and sometimes I lose the interest in diarys for not having feedback and most of times I always do this local to global things, which aren't so acttractive. Would love to have a long-lasting project with wrestlers that everyone knows and some money in the bank, TV deal, etc, etc.

Hoping to do something different with this one in terms of the presentation - been using the same format since about 2008, more or less, so it's time for a change! We made that war happen and we were apart of it as much as anybody else was. It wasn't a fight for the East Coast. Envisioned as the pinnacle of what Vince McMahon considered sports entertainment, Wrestlemania was supposed to be a grand melding of celebrity star power and the superstars that Vince had spent the better part of a year building to this point, capped by a tag team main event featuring Mr. T of the A-Team teaming with WWF Champion Hulk Hogan against Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff. McMahon spared no expense, paying theaters across the country to show the event on Closed Circuit. He brought in celebrities like Cyndi Lauper, Muhammad Ali and Billy Martin to bolster his extravaganza.

In a perfect world, Wrestlemania turned out to be a huge success, cementing the World Wrestling Federation into the popular culture as the worldwide leader in sports entertainment. In a perfect world, Hulk Hogan went on to become synonymous with professional wrestling. In a perfect world...

As Vince McMahon learned on that fateful day in March of 1985, we don't live in a perfect world...

Threw together some graphics for a WWF 2001 diary, once the 2016 edition of the Death of WCW mod is released. I've done the entire roster plus some extras, and I'd like to know your thoughts on these examples.

Also, a question about match-times. In 2001, TV matches generally only went a few minutes on Raw. What's the best way of sticking to this formula without tanking my TV shows? I generally find that without going at least 10 minutes, it's pretty difficult to get half-decent ratings -- but that would go against the crash-TV style of the show.

So this just happened in my save, and i'm debating on turning this into a dynasty, highlighting everything that's happened so far but until then here's this.

Tuesday night, John Cena and Bobby Roode ended Smackdown Live being held back from one another just five days before their match at No Mercy. However Friday afternoon, the news story broke that John Cena had been granted his release from the company. In one word the announcement simply was shocking. For nearly fifteen years, John Cena was the backbone of World Wrestling Entertainment, but with his leaving the term "new era" has never rang more true. What does that do to No Mercy however? With Cena out of the company, Bobby Roode seemingly has no opponent, and the Smackdown Live General Manager as well as Commissioner have been seen going crazy trying to adjust the lineup and direction of Smackdown Live due to this change.

<img src="http://i.imgur.com/bLZz0TN.png" style="max-width:100%;">

Bobby Roode is added to the WWE Championship match by Daniel Bryan

SACRAMENTO, CA - Following the opening video for No Mercy featuring WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose and his challenger tonight, AJ Styles we were shown a panning image of the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. After a small welcoming to the pay-per-view by the announce team, the Golden 1 Center was met with what can only be described as a glorious announcement. Glorious! No I Won't Give In! I Won't Give In! Until I'm Victorious! blared through the sound system and walking through the curtains and onto the stage was a suit wearing Bobby Roode. Upon entering the ring and grabbing a microphone in hand, the man went on to talk about how the irony is at an all time high. "No, really! Think about it, the man each and everyone of you have looked up to for years walked out on you! The man that has been pushed down our throats for so long just gave up, he quit, and quitters are the worst form of scum. But you know what really ticks me off about this? No one is up in arms that he quit, oh no. Instead they only have one question, why? Why did he quit? Are you serious? Does it matter? He walked out on all of you, spit in your face and left. But hell, i'll tell you why. It's because he knew the level of talent coming into the WWE was far superior than his skill set, and specifically, he knew tonight he was going to get his ass beat all across Sacramento. So John? I hope you're watching this buddy, because I really want to wish you the best in your future endeavors. What are Bobby Roode's future endeavors though? I don't know, I was planning on kicking a mans ass tonight so how about we still do something along those lines. Anyone in the back, you want to make a statement, come find out why I truly am glorious.". The words Bobby spoke were fueled with anger, surely he was pissed that tonight his opportunity to get higher up on the totem pole was taken away. That was of course until the music of Smackdown Live General Manager, Daniel Bryan hit. The GM walked out on stage, microphone already in hand and as he came to a halt just before stepping on the ramp he began to speak. "Bobby, I completely understand your frustrations, and believe me when I tell you that you're not the only one angered by what's happened in the past few days. However after a long meeting with myself and Shane McMahon, we've decided that tonight you shouldn't be taken off the card just because another man quit. So tonight we will see Bobby Roode face off against AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship.", after the gigantic announcement was made Bobby could be seen with a smug grin on his face, exiting the ring and walking up the ramp. Roode and Bryan shook hands before Bobby thanked him for handing over the WWE Championship as he then walked to the back. With the triple threat announcement, surely tonight's main event has been shaken up without a doubt!

<img style="max-width:100%;" src="http://i.imgur.com/A4JeHt8.png">

Bobby Roode def. AJ Styles & Dean Ambrose to win the WWE Championship (Triple Threat Match)

It was the golden opportunity for one Bobby Roode. Being placed into the WWE Championship match, the man who calls himself glorious knew that these chances don't come often and he seized the opportunity. All three men in the match giving it all they had, an outstanding technical battle between the three. However that didn't stop the match from breaking down a bit near the end as Bobby Roode slid out of the ring to grab a chair, waiting on the outside before running back in at the perfect moment. AJ Styles had Dean Ambrose in the air for a Styles Clash, and Bobby slid in to swing the chair cracking it against AJ's back sending him to the mat. Which also planted Dean down with the Styles Clash. With the champion seemingly down, Roode lifted Styles up to his feet before connecting with a Pay Off onto the chair. Considering it was a Bridging Fisherman Suplex, Bobby had AJ in perfect pinning predicament, but no one in the entire arena expected the three count to happen. So as the bell rang and Roode shot up to his feet the crowd was stunned, even booing the man who wasn't suppose to even be in this match a few days ago. Now however he was the king of the hill, he was the top guy on Smackdown Live, and with the WWE Championship over his shoulder while he posed on the middle rope, you can say Smackdown Live has gotten a bit more glorious than it already was. Who knows what to think now that this has happened, with Survivor Series being the next time Smackdown Live comes to you on pay-per-view, will Bobby Roode still hold the gold by then? Or will the now former champion, Dean Ambrose gain it back?

<img src="http://i.imgur.com/ktYpph7.png" style="max-width:100%;">

So it'll look something like:

[.URL]p.photobucket.com/username/folder/TommyCornell.jpg[/url.] without the full stops.

Make your chosen program's window wide enough so that the whole link fits on one line, it's easier to read that way.

4, Delete the wrestler's name from the URL. I find it easier to replace it with XXXX or something, so that the gap where it goes stands out when scanning the document, you'll see why later. Copy this URL. I've referred to this as 'Generic Image Link' in step 5 below.

5, Decide what kind of format you want to use, and where your images are going to go. For instance, a basic format for a singles match might be:

[Generic Image Link] [Generic Image Link] [Generic Image Link]

Wrestler 1 vs. Wrestler 2

For the ZZZZ Title

Match writeup goes here.

Winner: YYYY

Grade: A*

6, Do the same sort of thing for angles.

7, Once you've got that basic format, you can copy and paste these skeleton layouts for each segment of your show and fill them in by writing your shows out, and then when it comes time post it, just go through and add all the filenames in the appropriate links.

So in the above, you'd just add "TommyCornell" before the first .jpg, and then "vsGraphic" or whatever for the second one, which would be a "vs" graphic (not necessary, but IMO looks better if you're planning on using something like the format above), then "RickyDaleJohnson" before the third .jpg, and boom, done.

That's how I usually do it, not saying that's the only - or even the best - way.

WWF '94: The Battle for A New Generation

he wrestling world is in transition. The era of saying your prayers and eating your vitamins has grown stale over the course of the last three years; no longer do people want overly-cartoony characters or comedical farces that call themselves wrestlers.

What fans want is a revolution. A new breed of wrestlers, who wrestle in ways never thought of years before have answered that call and are prepared for battle. Those who have thrived in the ages of Rock N' Wrestling must now learn to adapt in this new era of professional wrestling, or risk being left on the wayside.

Those such as Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Diesel, Steve Austin, Cactus Jack, Owen Hart and many others have found themselves face to face against legends such as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Ricky Steamboat and Bob Backlund. Some will be happy to pass the torch, others might not be so willing. Of course, not to be hypocritical; some of this newer breed of wrestlers consider themselves entitled to this new sort of power that awaits them, but they usually end up crashing and burning. (Unless of course, if your name is Shawn Michaels, then in that case you can get with anything)

Me? I've been there before. I've seen the mountain top; I know what it's like to reach legendary status. Now i'm a bit older, a bit more wiser too. And it's up to me to make sure that the promotion that made me one of the most hated heels this side of Andre the Giant to make sure this new generation of wrestlers gets their chance to do what I did. And make their names not just known, but iconic. The battle for the new generation has begun; and it's time to draw the lines in the sand and create the next great evolution inside

not just the World Wrestling Federation, but amongst the entire wrestling industry as we know it.

All I ask from you, is to trust me.

What are the rules for writing a "diary?" How in-depth or minimalist can the description of the show be? Is there not a place to simply showcase booking? Interviews are fun to write and though you can create and tell a real valuable story in a match, they are just a pain to write. E-Feds for 17 years burnt me out.

So, just wondering what the protocol is here? My 1994 WWF game with Bret, 1-2-3 Kid, Tatanka & Luger as a faction, Zeus & Warlord as Tag Team Champions, and Owen Hart as the World Champion would be fun to share with everyone.
