WWF 87: Holy Cow!

To: Marc H. Lowrance III

My name is Vincent Kennedy McMahon, i have just seen footage of your announcing work in World Class Championship Wrestling. I have to admit that i'm quite impressed for what you did in that company, but now, i would like to offer you a position in my company. You worked with the Von Erich family and i think that bringing up someone who worked with them it's a wise choice, since i feel that you know more of them than i do. I hope you call me before this friday. Once you accept, we'll talk about the plans that we will have.

Best Regards,

Vincent K. McMahon.

Owner of the World Wrestling Federation.

I like who you've chosen as Champion -- who is Heel or Face?</p><p> </p><p> Nope. No protocol. Entirely up to you. Minimalist works well, especially if you stick to it and update -- you actually probably will reach a wider audience with a more minimalist approach. </p><p> </p><p> OctoberRaven won several awards doing pretty much what you described in his Road To Glory threads-- just booking or close to it. If you stick with a project, readers will come -- it is the only proven method.</p>

I've read great diaries with longer write-ups (blaustein's <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534520" rel="external nofollow">Shane McMahon's WCW (2001)</a> and Eisen-verse's <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534138" rel="external nofollow">SWF: Sins of the Father</a> are good examples of this) and great ones where some shows are just summaries with the main drivers being the interviews or backstage segments (<a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=535664" rel="external nofollow">James Casey's WCW: Dangerous Territory</a> for example).</p><p> </p><p> I will say that I find longer matches not as necessary for real world diaries versus C-Verse ones, because most people know what Bret Hart's moveset is, but they might not know that of, say, Wolf Hawkins.</p><p> </p><p> I tend to write longer matches than are necessary, but that's just my personal preference. You probably won't be able to find a style that makes everyone happy, but as long as it's fun for you, that's what's most important. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>I always wanted to be a wrestler. I just never was someone that had the size or the look, but yet through hard work I found work at age eighteen and I thought I would have a decent career. Then I found myself going nowhere and by 2014 I was without work. Life went on and no calls came. I just wasn't in demand and it seemed like by age twenty-four I was going to be out of the wrestling industry for good. That all changed one day when I got a call from a name I never expected. Someone I worked with, but never knew truly even thought would remember me.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Hey wrestling fans,</p><p> </p><p>

I hope that your day is going well. I am enjoying listening to my Carolina Panthers preseason week 2 NFL game. But that is neither here nor there as to the point of this post.</p><p> </p><p>

Reading Eisen-verse's excellent SWF diary and speaking with him on things to do with the Cornellverse, have gotten me thinking about the Cornellverse again. As most who read my diaries would know, I started a diary a couple months back that is right <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534305" rel="external nofollow">here.</a> I am debating on whether or not I want to bring that diary out of retirement or whether I want to begin anew with my favorite promotion in the Cornellverse, USPW.</p><p> </p><p>

I can definitely say that if I return to that diary, there will be a very abbreviated version of the rest of Freedom Fight in order to move forward. I just am not sure if I want to go there or not. The longer I am writing this, the more I am thinking of starting completely from scratch so that I have a clean slate to work with, rather than the storylines and signings that I've already made. But I wanted to put this out there to get thoughts from the readers because you are all important to me and it is important to me that my readers are right there with me and understand why my decisions are made.</p>

Restarting may give you a "blank canvas" but it also means that you've given up on the original. If everybody stopped after awhile/retired and created a new diary with the same company, that'd get tiring real fast as they could have 3-4 diaries with the exact same company with starts that are the same or extremely similar. Return to the original and you basically have a "blank canvas" again as your plans and thoughts now might have changed since you stopped/retired the diary.</p>

Thank you -- I'm sort of in a similar place with my TCW Diary -- I'm leaning toward rebooking a couple months, and think the diary should go better from there.

I have a show written up [should be up today sometime] but I made some questionable in-game decisions, and I'm hopefully going to remedy them.

I would consider trying another promotion -- TCW and USPW can be hard sells especially if you start losing national battles/falling to Cult. I've always switched promotions after a diary "ends" [technical issues mostly] and it usually helps me creatively.

Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns – light years beyond the wild newcomers they were 12 months ago – were, of course, all too eager to take out the proverbial thorn in their collective paws. So much so, in fact, that the three Hounds of Justice nearly got into it with each other over who was the unit's strongest link and therefore worthiest to face Punk. Thanks to a timely appearance by Raw GM Brad Maddox, though, The Shield’s tumult was quelled and Seth Rollins was selected as the lucky Superstar who would battle The Best in the World.</div></div></p><p> </p><p>

http://i1368.photobucket.com/albums/ag183/darragh2oo9/HGC/JKStalkingsJr_ager_zps93tjmob7.jpg

[A 35 year old J.K Stallings sits in a chair, reserved in nature. His suit was professional but luxurious as he comfortably sat in his office chair in his home. Surrounded by technology and all his accomplishments, Stallings' hair is combed to one side as it's sleekness glistens against the light. His face shows no emotion, as he begins to speak.]

"I was a money bank. Sure my ideas were used more often than not but that's because I was signing the paychecks. I was so young at the time that I didn't really know anything that happened in the back. I was just the man with the money, I was just a fan."

http://i1368.photobucket.com/albums/ag183/darragh2oo9/HGC/Rip%20Chord_ager_zpsiqceki9c.jpg

[sitting comfortably in his home, wrestling legend Rip Chord looks feeble as a 68 year old man. Years of drinking and drug abuse, have finally taken their toll. His grey hair and drooped makes him look far older than he is. Despite this, he still shows his immense passion for the business as his face lights up as he begins to speak]

Sam Strong was king. He okay'd everything but we had a booking committee. You usually didn't get that back in those days but Sam wanted control of the main storylines, so that's what he got. I controlled the midcard storylines with reasonably heavy input from Sam, and I also had the Cruiserweights. Larry Vessey had the tag teams, and that was his territory, Sam didn't even interfere with that and Charlie Homicide took care of the Hardcore division, which Sam didn't care about.

[He shuffles in his chair as he continues to remember back.]

I remember that you were either with Sam or against him and let me tell you, if you were against him, you were going to struggle to get on the show, that's one thing that was for sure. The three "sub-bookers" were bulletproof in a way that we could legitimately do anything we wanted without as much as a second thought from Sam, as long as it wasn't taking away from his spotlight, Sam was happy. I think Charlie and myself did a fine job in trying to groom the future for the industry with what we were given but Larry took it to a new level. People thought Larry was just a grumpy old man, but he knew what he needed to do to make sure the industry lived on.

http://i1368.photobucket.com/albums/ag183/darragh2oo9/HGC/Robert%20Oxford_zpsxvxmv8gm.jpg

Larry was old school.

[Although 57 years old, Robert Oxford had kept in tremendous shape and truthfully hadn't changed since his initial run in HGC. His hair speckled with grey, Oxford spoke with professionalism as he continued his story.]

And if you were old school he liked that, which is why "The Untouchables" were the tag team kings back then. Vessey loved us, we could wrestle, we were technical and we got wrestling. Yet, that's not the only "old school" take he had on wrestling. Larry also liked big tough dudes as well. Which is why tag teams like Savage Fury and The Nation of Filth were also heavily involved. Vessey knew what he wanted and truthfully, he didn't take well to guys who didn't fit his mantra.

http://i1368.photobucket.com/albums/ag183/darragh2oo9/HGC/Teddy%20Flame_zpszohmm3kl.jpg

[still sporting his died red hair 19 years later, Teddy Flame sat in front of the camera, his face surrounded by blinding red hair. His face wrinkled, Teddy smirked as he began to talk.]

Larry wasn't a fan of our style but respected us because of our accomplishments. I think he wanted us away from the tag division just so he could build his own division. Not that we thought that was a problem, we were more than ready to finish our tag team. Joey was very happy that we were over, he had a lot still left in the tank. I, on the other hand, was on my final legs and I knew that. I respect Larry for what he did. He was direct no bullsh!t. I wish I could say the same for Sam.

http://i1368.photobucket.com/albums/ag183/darragh2oo9/HGC/JackBruce_alt1jt.jpg?t=1472860608

[A still vibrant looking Jack Bruce sat in a fluffy zebra patterned chair. A lovable smirk on his face, Jack's is surrounded with posters of his greatest achievements and moments in his career. An SWF title hung in a frame on the wall, with Jack Bruce inscribed on the name plate. Jack smiles as he begins to speak]

It was a struggle. Everyday was a struggle. Sam did what he had to do to stop the young guys from rising up to take his spotlight. Though he didn't always take much interest he made sure when guys started to get hot with momentum, that they took a step back and this wasn't a minor inconvenience either, he'd have them lose a big match up.

[Jack shakes his head, a grimace appearing on his face. He brushes his hair off his face and continues]

It's disgusting when you think about it. Sam was 50 at that time. He didn't have many more years left or at least he shouldn't have had. There's a point in your career when you say "Okay, I can't give much more to this business, time to put the new generation of stars over". I'm not quite there yet but that time will come, that's the only thing us wrestlers can't fight and that's time and physical decline. Sam was at that level but that's what you had to deal with. You were
dealing with politics
and Sam Strong was the leader of the party.

First time diary writer here, but a long time player of TEW and general lover of words.</p><p>

Starting a CGC diary, the colourful company I've always loved is in dire straights and it's time Alex DeColt handed the reigns to a new booker to save his Fathers company.</p><p>
