Firstly are you shows good enough to be gaining you popularity? I would imagine they are but just checking. To get maximum increase you need a couple of grades higher in your shows than your popularity.

Problem could be that the wrestling industry is in the crapper in Canada at the moment. If your wrestling industry is under 25 then you can only gain +0.2 popularity with each show. When that happened to me I just went to one show a month and waited it out. Otherwise you probably want to be running a show a week if you can afford it.

Looking at the broadcasters I think I'd be looking to get onto Channel 6 - you'll need to get 28 popularity in 4 regions in Canada to qualify for a deal with them. Build up in your home region so you get a lot of spillover into other Canadian regions and then try to get them up to 28. If you lose too much money have one show in your home region to bring in the money and another show on the road to reach your aim of 28. From there on our its just a matter of putting on good shows all the way to National. (you might want to change broadcaster once other ones become available to you).

Appreciate the help, I'll give that a try.

Getting close to the end of the year but my backstage is getting destroyed. Currently at a 53% and Harry Wilson and Marc Speed are at war right now turning everyone against each other. Did a "hardline stance" and no one left the company. Might sack Speed but Wilson has good chemistry with my user character so he's getting a push.

Also realized that it was easier to just start the RMW Network instead of grinding for a couple more years to get to the minimum for a broadcaster that will cover all of the U.S. We only have tiny coverage but we're starting to move the areas that aren't getting any more spillover.

Alright then, with CV97 as the base for this and with CV16X released, it's time to see just how badly I can do from now on.

BIO: When travelling the world there are many potential hazards... but none of the guidebooks ever suggest that you might lose your passport and money at a lucha libre show in Mexico City and be forced through various circumstances (fuelled by a young Scottish liver being able to handle a lot of tequila) to step into the wrestling ring. Unable to even speak the language, Scotia (Derek Blackley) has receive enough basic training to avoid killing anyone and has been thrust into the head booker position of a super small time lucha libre organisation. May God help him through this ordeal as he tries to get his passport back.

I don't speak any Spanish only English and I'm set as an Average Lightweight. I also realised I miscounted first time, so an updated me here. :) Have set my user talents to 8/3/3/3/8... should be fun to deal with incidents and hopefully in some trust from my fellow luchadors on the way. :)

I'm also combining this with the full 0/0/0/0 thing too, none of this sissy nonsense of having a thousand dollars in my pocket. I'm a full on drunken Scotsman with no knowledge of the language stuck in a foreign country and who can't even remember who the boss is. :p

EDIT: My boss is Aguila... I totally knew that, which is why I hadn't hire a road agent already... obviously. I'm totally in control here, speaking into a phone that isn't connected in a language that I hope none of these guys understands. :p

Finished my first year with Art of Wrestling...

1b608199238eafdab94a8e6fdd10e9ba.png

33. “Makeover Time” You get yourself an image makeover. Your sex appeal, star quality and menace EACH randomly change by anything between -5 and +15. (roll once for each stat)

So put the thing at 1 - 21... 1 being -5 and 21 being +15

Sex Appeals first up...

2aa0b07b4686b53701ffc8845fdb69d6.png

Wish I'd gone with SQ first so Sex Appeals goes up by 15. It was at 1.8 so it goes up to 16.8

221bca11d36e7e8214309c681c2d5d19.png

What are the odds I get another 21, SQ goes up by 15. It was at 77.2 so it caps out at 100.

67bcb5ad7b590b2964011b627e754d83.png

Menace goes up by 5. Menace was at 0 so it is exactly at 5.

So we got Red Falcon as our owner, he immediately changed the product so that my guy's 75 Puro was pretty much useless and made us a real daredevil company. Could've had 75/75 aerial/flashiness if I would've known and then some extra points to spare for psychology.

I hired 5 guys to start who were the cheapest I could find ranging from 120$ to priciest being 140$. They are Jesse and Joe Gilbert, Hector Davoren, Corey Smith, Dan Biliot. Referee for 180$ was Jonathan Taylor. I just made mr. Red Falcon our Road Agent even if he's not suited for that. Kept our show cost as low as it could possibly be. I ran a 5 show G1 tournament of which my guy won by virtue of putting on the best performances. He won the AOW Toronto Championship and AOW Red Falcon Grand Prix Tournament by beating Dan Biliot then went on to defend against the whole roster.

Eventually released Corey Smith since he's possible one of the worst workers around. I was tempted to do the same with Hector but he's actually really improved so that his In-Ring/Perf, Physical and Entertainment/Camera are all Average instead of Weak. I brought in regen Rick Tufnel who is Average/Strong/Average by those same standards and easily my #2. He was also super cheap. I also brought in NOTBPW graduate Troyes Gosselin for super cheap, I was considering releasing Hector but I think I'll enjoy just rotating them in.

Top 10 shows...

99a1ae605906e8ad2217e051cb0ad8f5.png

Rick Tufnel XI was actually no showed by Rick Tufnel who had other commitments so Rick Tufnell XII is where the match actually happened.

Top 10 matches...

4b5eca839ac7a21aff77af62226b110c.png

We have 10 more E- matches below that, 8 F+s, 7 Fs and 1 F-.

d117fde630c5cf85d70c286849b4c014.png

If I could take it all back I'd transfer his Puro + Technical stats to Aerial/Flashiness to 75. Otherwise, I'm really satisfied with how he is. Just gotta hop his Psych doesn't cap out low. SQ/Charisma, Face Performance and top push should ensure he's a perfect figurehead. Effects should activate in February and I'll probably play till then just to see.

We also started turning a profit recently...

d63b17d9e527beba38d36176cf51572c.png

Started at 0/0/0/0 mind you so had no money. Glad we got around to making a profit to the point where at the end of the year we're right back where we started at 0$ and ready to start making a profit. Growth has been super slow but I'm not in this to rush. If I wanted to I could've had 12 shows in the first month and been profitable really quickly. Wanted to stay realistic and grounded.

Rest of the world is looking sorry. SWF has bought out RPW, PPPW, XFW - BHOTWG who wanted to out tyrant-them bought out BBW, 5SSW and GCG. AMW of course died. NEW and Hinote Dojo benefited rising from Local to Regional with their fathers murdering all the competition. 4C also grew to Small.

Alex DeColt created Great White North Championship Wrestling aka CGC 2.0. with a lot of CGC guys we know and love as well as Duane Stone.

Johnny Martin is already a 5X Extreme Champion and 2X NEW Champion. He loves belts.

Hito Ichihara wins WOTY, PGHW COTY, Kunomasu & Hoshino TTOTY, Elemental II vs. Optimus at a Lords of the Ring show wins MOTY though it was but an A-rated match and one of many they've had, PGHW Night of Warriors wins SOTY (it featured 2 A-Rated headliners), SWF World Heavyweight Champion Sean McFly wins YWOTY, Rip Chord wins VOTY, Sensation wins WWOTY, Hinote Dojo beats out NEW for MICOTY, Corporal Doom wins IWOTY.

I know what you're wondering, did anyone make it to the Power 500...

PLOT TWIST SOMEONE DID...

Dan Biliot just about nudged it in at #498. The rookie has the late PPPW to thank for his positioning here. And one match with me.

And that's all, will be back with an update after I finish another year.

My guys in the Power 500

390: Nicolas Lopez (my first champion and current Figurehead, he's been killing it for me here)

470: Scotia: (ME! Submission based foreigner with a typical angry Scottish temper once going, tends to snap when he loses)

487: Masked Rebel (My main heel, he tends to get in the face of Aguila, the owner/authority figure, while generally what he wants)

494: Arana Zafiro Jr (my #2 face, has great tag chemistry with Lopez that I will use in future)

499: Aprendiz Jr (a surprise entry for my #4 heel. I have him as a thinking wrestler who scouts opponents and learns their weakness, but isn't good enough to capitalise yet)

12 shows in the first year, started with 8 wrestlers and my referee (owner working for free) and a tournament spanning the first three shows. Aguila has tweaked the product from a pop>perf to now a perf>>pop ,which is doing great for my show ratings and seems to have really accelerated my growth. We're still at F- popularity but I'm guess we're near the top end of that and we're making a small profit each month with a 6 person per show roster. Got to reign in the early spending where we were losing about 2k per month, we're currently at 10,585 in the whole with a goal to be out of that by the end of the second year... getting out of that by time we go bankrupt before that is probably better, so I may end up scaling back the shows early in the year to get the sponsor money. Tijuana Vampire is my new champion, winning it at Dia de las Muertes (the height of the vampire's power) in a C- match, our best to date :D

Here is my progress so far... :)

Year 1

Rolled a 28. “A Bumpy Ride” You have devoted your holiday season to training in the ring +5 to your Basics skill

Well, it's not the most helpful but it doesn't hurt either. :p Goals for the new year... make some money, continue the slow takeover of Mexico while trying to get my passport back. Learn Spanish. Hope that January's "El Rey de la Ringo" is a fairly close translation of "King of the Ring" and not actually a tribute to The Beatles as I suspect it may be. Hope like heck that Nicolas Lopez as Figurehead pays off well for the next show since he's hitting the one year mark and winning that tournament. Hope MPWF don't break Nicolas Lopez now that he has signed with them.

EDIT: Dan Billiot at #491 in the rankings. Some chat room favourites do well from time to time. :p

Double post but worth it since a lot has happened early into 1998. Now making a steady profit, I wanted to up my roster count to 8 for this year's Red Falcon Grand Prix, also with the intention of running shows more frequently. I brought in debuting regens Roy Phillips (130$) and Troyes Gosselin (110$). Hector Davoren after having seriously improved in the past year was getting his first substantial win after jobbing most of the year... except Roy Phillips injured him for a year and 3 months, an audible was called and he lost. I brought in an american hispanic region called Wayne Westybrook for 130$ to replace Hector. In Troyes second match, this time against me, I intimidated him into taking the loss... so he injured me for two months. Wayne Westybrook also beat the shit out of Troyes before his first match, so I believe I fined him, he also had a bad gimmick and lost his first and second match so he quit his only place of employment and I need to find a third replacement for this tournament.

My morale is extremely low at 52% too.

On the upside, I've already held 3 shows in two months. I'm wondering if I should hold back on pushing for Small because I'll get wrecked in any regional war or not. We're 3 small companies in Canada, 2 in Ontario. So I'm imagining once I hate Small I'll have to scale back my shows because I'll get wrecked there with 4C's D/D- shows and GWNCW's C- shows. My best match ever was an E+ after all. I may have to break the bank on a quality wrestler that can main event to compete.

EDIT: Also worth mentioning that I brought in Guide to replace me. And with Westybrook gone, I've signed Teddy Powell to replace him. They keep the same points the predecessor had. No one is performing as well as I was so far unfortunately, E seems to be the cap for how well they do.

I think the plan is to slowly expand to a 12 man roster (I believe that's the Small requirement?) and then once I reach that, slowly try to switch out weaker members with better talents.

Also a new promotion just formed, local Ultimate Championship Wrestling formed by Madman Boone out of Alberta. They're already ahead of me pop wise but come to think of it BC/Alberta don't have spillover with Ontario so I may not have to actually worry about regional wars. Which would be brilliant.

Troyes wanted a raise to 440 thanks to his NOTBPW pop. Obviously I rejected it so he handed in his notice shortly afterwards. Time to replace him. I signed Yoriie Ippitsusai who I usually release in my modern day BCG file. He's available in Canada, available for 160 and seems like he'd automatically be my best wrestler. Usually I'd go for the cheapest available but I think I need to up my game and he's under 200 so he's nice.

You'll get into the regional battle regardless of size once your popularity hits F+, so you may as well move to small and take the attendance and momentum boost that comes with it.

May

I lost Duberry Excess and Dusty Ducont in consecutive weeks to the poaching TCW. This was pretty sucky, as I’m a couple of months from cult and could offer them some contracts. Since I hit cult I made some signings: Atlas, Devious Doctor Fang, Harold Miletich, Matty Faith and Rayne Man.

Leigh Burton is leaving USPW so I'm picking him up. Should be a good signing.

It's the end of the year and I'm sitting pretty. I upped my production values to be on par with all cult peers. I'm making close to 200k a month. Next year I will spread into a third region and try to eventually secure a TV deal with the east coast broadcaster.

Year 1: 53. "Casting Call" Hollywood is calling you with a "Major Role", add +10 between your Acting and Star Quality. Add Movie Star to your character (Other Genre) - I'm putting it all in SQ

Year 2: 48. "Charity Event" Your owner has decided to host a charity event. Your next wrestling show gains you no money, but the company gets twice the amount of popularity from it. (Remove how much profit you gain from the next event, after having paid Workers and Show Costs

Year 3: 52. "The Real Rock n' Rolla" You've filled in for a band member one night, who now wants to you tour with them as a result. Add +10 between your Microphone and Charisma. Add "Musician" to your character. (Other Genre)

Year 4: 34. “Healing Hands” Over the holiday season you book yourself in for several massages and physio appointments. +7.5 to all Physical Condition.

Year 5: 43. "Internet Sensation" One of your wrestlers (random roll from the list) has become an internet video hit due to a pirate recording of his last match. +2 pop for your company in every area that you already have popularity in and +10 pop for the wrestler in all areas.

I rolled 13 = Harry Wilson.

Year 6: 39. “Super Awesome Wrestling-A-Go-Go: Eletric Boogaloo” or “Pop Goes The Weasel” You can choose to add 20 points to your Comedy Performance rating OR Weasel Performance rating OR use a random number generator to score between 0 and 50, adding the number to either rating.

Kind of a wasted roll. I'm 0 in both. So I decided to roll 0-50, and rolled a 9. I'll add it to Comedy.

Year 7: 3. "Trusted Companion" You gain the Loyalty of one of your roster (random roll from the list of your current roster). Rolled Lightning Lomas, a midcarder.

Continuing the tales of AOW in Canada. With my guy returning from injury, I brought in a 10th wrestler, Thomas Cloutier. A solid regen. The final results for my tournament had Rick Tufnel leading with 18 points and Guide (replacing Jon Snow) and Dan Billiot with 15 points. The next even had Guide beat Dan Billiot in the main event to go to the finals. Winner gets a shot at Jon Snow.

Oddly enough, CGC hit Cult... and proceeded to get rid of Land Mass, Tim Westybrook, Murderous Mikey, John Maverick, Mighty Thor, Eddie Chandler, Ted Moore and Mario Heroic? Are they replacing them with better talent maybe. They looked like a great core of young guys to build around.

Meanwhile elsewhere in the rising Canadian scene, UCW & 4C are on hostile terms. I am also still the smallest company in the world. Racing with UCW for Small. I put on two shows a month but really I run a show anytime I have enough money in my chest to run one without going in the red.

Piledriver Wrestling finally went bankrupt, they don't even get the owner of a SWF buy.

I decided to hire Courtenay Morin after an impressive one night trial performance against myself. He costs 180$ and until I have an even number of wrestlers, he will be on my rotation cast.

Industry & Economy is dropping so I'm presuming the show every 2 weeks might change to every 3 weeks or something like that. I still stick to my strategy of having a show anytime I have enough to ensure hosting it doesn't put me in the red.

Next update should have me done the year.

NYCW is having trouble staying afloat, so I look to raid their talent this year if I can afford them.

My roster expanded slightly over the year:

Robin Newman walked out on me during the year after I made a hardline stance. Weak in-ring anyway... who needs 'em, right?

Using CV16 Reworked, playing as a pop>perf fed in the South East region. Started as perf>pop, but swapped it up a few months in because I was losing money. Was still losing a couple thousand a show though. It got to a point where I was running a show every three months, but the company eventually died halfway through 2017. Now I'm just simming until a new local promotion pops up.

Trudging through towards Regional and managed to top Marc's best match. If you do one monthly show, it would take you about 2 years to get to small at best, and every month you'd be losing money. So it's impossible.

You have to make sure you're signing on the extremely cheap, only having 5 wrestlers aside from yourself (if it's a good mod, you should be able to find 5 guys with sub 200$ contract). I'm still running this file and still not small, still less than 2 years in, I've got a roster of 12 men, each wrestle each show, and can have as much as 3 shows a month. Furthermore, the industry/economy is at E & C, both falling. Stay cheap. Don't rush. You can do this. Your ratings will come later on. I also did this at 0/0/0/0. If you can get a road agent as your owner (****, even if the guys not a road agent, I'd still use him as one just to save money until you can afford someone good, mine's a shite road agent), and the cheapest possible ref, it is DEFINITELY possible.

I'm one show away from finishing year 2 in CV97, running from 0/0/0/0 in West Central Mexico. Thing started out badly but using six guys a month most months (8 in others) over that time and I've been making money since about month 10. Broke even at about 18 months (I took a couple of months off there) and now I'm making good money and running a roster of 10-14 people depending on the night.

Is definitely possible to make money in CV97 and CV16X, you just need to sign the cheapest people (as you should be at that size) and maybe pick up one star who can deliver you good ratings. My company only had a slight positive to sponsors, but Nicolas Lopez has been a megastar for me, is my figurehead and delivers B+ in his matches, hitting a C+ with Apprendiz Jr (who delivers E+)... what a machine! :D

I gave my previous RTG where I'm cult a rest to try out the CV97 mod, and well looks like bankruptcy. I used only the cheapest people, and did weekly shows to get my popularity up, but things changed a lot from the 1.0 patch and now sponsorship is even tougher.

With a quite favorable sponsorship company I'm getting 5,000 a month at small. Not running a show in one month gets me 3,000 in the plus. Since I'm 30,000 in debt, I doubt I'll be able to climb out of the hole in about 9 months. And this is with good economy.

I did internet distribution at the start, it got up all areas to 3 pop and gave me 16,000 estimated sponsorship one month, but then crashed to 0. I really don't know why internet even really exists cause it seems useless.
