Frank Hammerschmidt - 2002 (Year 2)

Early in January Frank Hammerschmidt becomes established as CWA's figurehead and netting us a small, but not insignificant bonus. He's still struggling against the other, slightly more popular main eventers Matt Sydal and Matt Cross.

My financial disciple holds and I run monthly shows, always following the same pattern:

- A promo on B

- B promo on A

- Match A vs. B

- C promo on D

- D promo on C

- Match C vs. D

- E promo on me

- my promo on E

- E vs. me for the title

- generic promo by me

The winners of the first two matches move up the card for the next show, the losers move down. It's a quick and easy scheme, allowing me to progress through the months quickly. The mod loading fast also helps, of course.

(I call this formula the "Zoofights Food Chain". It comes from a game where I started unemployed and ended up in New Zealand, hiring a bunch of animal-themed wrestlers (Bee Boy, Fly Girl, Koala Mask, among others) and renamed the rest (Boa Johnstrictor!) and invented this scheme to hold our monthly show "Zoofights!" to determine who could "move up the food chain" and claim the "Apex Predator" title. :D Fun times, but then Gedo stepped down as New Japan's booker and I got accepted for that job.)

By the end of March, my miserliness finally pays off. Our bank account is in the black. Only for a couple of days as the next show is coming, but threat of bankruptcy has been fought off sooner than I anticipated. Even though Europe's economy is about to hit rock bottom (F- and falling), but the wrestling industry remains strong despite that (C and rising).

After our event in May, we stay in the black even after the show's costs and I start looking at expanding my roster to prepare for an eventual move to small size. (For now I locked myself at local to avoid production penalties, but we're not actually close to that yet anyway.) In June, two new, unknown youngsters make their debuts in CWA: Jay Lethal and Kenny Omega. For these two, I break my rule of "only hire people with demands under $200 before negotiations", but 200 and 210 is not that far off anyway. On the same card, I drop the title to Matt Sydal.

Our summer tournament in July is our first show better than D+. A straight C show, main evented by the tournament final of Matt Sydal beating Ace Steel (who cheated to win against me in the semi-finals  ).

In September I regain the title by accident. I forgot to set a winner in the title match and despite having simmering tension with me over a backstage incident, Matt decides to do the job. Well, he does sort of make me look bad since I did set the finish to be by cheating, but it ends up me holding the opponent's tights to win. Oh well.

Over the next couple of months, I continue to expand the CWA with cheap talent as our income keeps growing. Emil Sitoci, Lance Hoyt, Arik Cannon and Puck (another one I never heard of before, but was recommended by Hidden Gems) make their debuts. I also start breaking from the formula outlined above and start booking more free-form and starting to explore tag teams, checking for chemistry.

I keep denying any and all requests at pay raises. Matt Sydal, Matt Cross and Jack Evans morale is kept tanking because they're still turning in praiseworthy performances every month and praise them I do. Archadia not so much and after his second denied pay raise, he hands in his notice in early October. Although he was projected to become an exceptional worker and a major player, I never really got behind him in the same way I got behind the other talent. I suspect the "never heard of him before" played a role in that as the rest of the roster is pretty much well-known these days IRL.

Also in October, I start getting notices about regional battles. We come in 2nd out of 4, somehow, and 1st out of 5 in November and December. We're putting on well-received cards, but everyone else is much bigger and more prestigious than us and our production is still at minimal levels. Is the wrestling that good?

At the November show, we hit our first segment in the B range as I deliver a B- promo, hyping a title defense against Jack Evans.

As the end of the year draws near, I start getting nervous about my owner goal not falling below our initial #51 in the company rankings. The mod has a lot of companies open up and I start getting nervous I might blow this critical goal. Fortunately, the chickens come home to roost for a lot of companies in November and December. One of them is wXw which is great news not just because they were a local competitor. They also employed Sydal and Cross and caused me some headache by making them gain more popularity through their shows as I try to keep up with my character.

Also in December, we mark our first even with over 100 in attendance. 104 paid to see the best match of my career so far, a C- rated title defense against Jack Evans.

8JekI54.png?1

This is where our roster stands at the end of the year. We added Arik Cannon, Afa Jr., Johnny Curtis (the future Fandango), Dru Onyx, Naofumi Yamamoto (a.k.a. Yoshitatsu) and the Swedish Erik Isaksen for some extra local color. Still very cheap, but I expect this to change in 2003.

Finances are doing well. Extremely well, in fact. Europe's wrestling boom continues and the industry is now at A and still rising. The economy is also recovering nicely, currently at E and still rising.

END OF YEAR ROLL:

42. "Step Into The Light" You get your 15 minutes of fame. +5 Pop across entire base country.

I feel bad because so far it's been 2/2 rolls that give exactly what I need. It feels like cheating, even though it's legit. random.org is feeling extremely (suspiciously?) generous. The pop boost solves the issue with Cross and Sydal being slightly more popular than Frank and he's now undisputed figurehead of the company. With wXw out of business, I should be able to keep them from eclipsing me again.

dxS72Hp.png?1

Here are Frank's skills at the end of 2002. With the boost from the yearly roll, he's now at a straight D popularity in Central Europe and F+ in the rest of Europe, except Iberia (due to the spillover setup of the region) where he's slightly behind with an F.

PLANS FOR 2003:

- I'm going to remove my size limit. I expect the massive winter tournament event in January giving us a nice boost, both in finances and popularity, so we can make the jump. I will have to up some production values, but I think I can get away without matching everything to our rivals.

- Pay rises will be coming. It looks like the two Matts are starting to see through my "praise, not pay" scheme. Also the contracts of Sydal, Cross, Steel and Evans expire at the end of the year.

- Roster size will stay stable. I plan no expansion unless absolutely necessary.

Athleticism governs all of your in-ring stat caps, and stamina makes sure you don’t get winded quickly.</div></blockquote><p> Thanks and I hope you'll have fun with your own game! As for your suggestions: I agree on athleticism. Stamina rises at a nice pace as long as you keep having matches that make you "visibly tiring towards the end". I thought other physical attributes would rise maybe not quite as fast as stamina, but at least faster than they do. If had to do it again, I would definitely invest into more athleticism.</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, 2003 is in the books in my game. Not a highly remarkable year. CWA rose to small size and the economy is humming - thanks to a global boom starting in July - so I'm making a solid profit every month (despite extending four contracts and the raises that went with that) and the bank account is at 38,277 on January 1st. Both economy and wrestling business have peaked, though, and are on the way back down, so I won't get too fanciful in terms of finances. I have upped my production values to match my regional rivals, however, and we've been ranked #1 in the regional battle for a year despite being the smallest of the four competitors. Only in December EWA managed to eclipse us. The other two competitors, GWF and ACW have declared hostility.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Q1kzbU2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Q1kzbU2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Nothing bad can come off something so good!</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="itPlXAv.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/itPlXAv.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> CWA's roster has seen a little turnover. Naofumi Yamamoto got signed to written deal by New Japan in September. I brought in Jayson Paul (JTG) to bring the roster back to 16 wrestlers. In November, Matt Cross quit. I mismanaged his morale for too long and had started to give praise to Jay Lethal instead of him. Partly because Jay is turning in excellent performance, partly because Matt's performances have slipped a bit. His replacement is a recently debuted Eddie Kingston. I also signed Bobby Lashley who is yet to debut; I wanted an extra wrestler because I think I'm getting tired of Dru Onyx picking fights backstage and showing no progress in the ring despite being an "exceptional" prospect.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="ixk45gH.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ixk45gH.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Creatively, I spent the year mostly on autopilot and testing for tag team chemistry since. The only real story I had was pushing Lance Hoyt up the card in the first half of the year, winning the summer tournament and dethroning my character as the champion. I wanted to cultivate him as the big monster heel who will eventually be beaten by me. Before I lost the title I brought in Luc Poirier for a one-shot. Poirier worked for the original CWA as "Rambo" and was their last champion. I won a title match against him to fully establish the title's lineage - at least in my head. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Speaking of my character. The yearly roll came up 17: “Nose To The Grindstone” You have devoted your holiday season to training in the ring +5 any top row skill of your choice. I chose Mat Work. Apparently CWA's international locker room uses English as its lingua franca since Frank has already up fluency. He also makes his first appearance in the Power 500, at #440.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="ixk45gH.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ixk45gH.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> And for those curious about the game world: <a href="https://pastebin.com/xRPhR4u1" rel="external nofollow">2003 - YEAR IN REVIEW</a> (Pastebin)</p>

First Year done in my Road To Glory TVerse Save. I choose the Thunderverse because it's the one I've had the most success in Road To Glory and I'm not sure anyone else has done the challenge there.

Skills At The Start:

JGaMIMS.jpg

Skills After A Year:

C5xNLNK.jpg

Finances After A Year:

f4BBJ1c.jpg

In terms of growth, the company went from 58th in the world to 28th which is pretty good. We're not far away from TV which is making me nervous because we can't get a TV deal until we go regional which I'm scared will put us back into debt.

I also really need to retool the roster because Izumi is putting up 70 in-ring performances but his highest-rated match is a 64 because the people he's wrestling are terrible for the most part.

The biggest shock to me so far is that my safety rating didn't effect anything up until my last match of the year. I went 46 matches without hurting anyone with a starting safety rating of 0.

My roll was

38. “I’ve Got A Coat That Makes Me Hug Myself…” or “Train, Fight, Hurt People, Repeat” You can choose to add 20 points to your Crazy Performance rating OR Legit Performance rating OR use a random number generator to score between 0 and 50, adding the number to either rating.

Which is incredibly unuseful to me. I already have a 100 in legit performances and my company doesn't use gimmicks anyways. So a 20 to Crazy Performance doesn't help much. Maybe if I end up leaving this company, it'll prove invaluable eventually.

I've decided to have a go at this alongside my diary game. I thought the UK looked like it was ripe for another promotion to pop up, with the only options being the monopoly of 21CW or working for scumbag Mark Carnie at SNP. I chose Jackie Goldstein as my owner, as his versatility should come in useful.

My new company is called United Kingdom Championship Wrestling, and I'm hoping that the lack of competition in the UK will allow me to have free reign over signings and will allow me to avoid Regional battles when we get to that point.

Starting stats as below:

Product is Very similar to the Old School 'Rassling pre-set, with Mainstream turned up to Medium. Looking forward to getting into this!

So I've autobooked the first few weeks of my RTG, and will continue to autobook. Definitely going to have to sign some new workers because I've had the same matches 3 or 4 times now. Despite that, I have 2 questions regarding my user character:

1. Does autobook ever book the user character into the show? I've had to manually insert my character into a match or angle on every single show. Not a big deal, and probably better that I actually book my own character, but was just curious.

2. With my characters scouting levels all at 10, will my character start seeing an increase in skills on his own, or will I have to manually increase the skills myself? I would have thought that by now, at least one skill would have increased some. Thanks.

Can't speak for the auto booker but as far as increasing a worker's skills it's all about having them wrestle people with better skills. The more they wrestle the faster they will increase. They will go up naturally between 18-29 depending on when the worker's maturity age is. Then from 30 and on the only way to increase them is by facing better skilled workers.

Yup, it's possible. I just tested with a quick SWF save, editing The Masked Avatar to have 90 pop and be a main eventer (making an educated guess that being a really popular main eventer would increase odds of him being on the card). Auto-booked, checked if TMA was there, then cleared all and auto-booked again, repeating a total of 5 times:

  1. Not booked at all
  2. Pre-match interview and a match against Steven Parker in the midcard
  3. Pre-match interview and a match against Robbie Retro in the midcard
  4. Not booked at all
  5. Confrontation angle with Angry Gilmore, and a match against Angry Gilmore in the main event

<p>Year one is in the bag for UKCW! A pretty dire game world - E+ economy and falling, and F+ wrestling industry and falling, meant that I had to keep things incredibly tight financially. Things didn't really improve over the year, ending with an E+ and rising Economy and the wrestling industry has actually hit 0 (but at least it will rise now)!</p><p> </p><p>

Due to this I have had to do some incredibly repetitive booking with a rotating circus of extras losing to my UC. My record for the year was 46-2 and UKCW put on 24 shows. Annihulus won the UKCW British Championship in January, but lost it to my UC in February and I have held it ever since. Not a lot of storylines to report on due to the constant roster turnover to stop repetitive booking penalties. On the positive - working two matches and two promo's a night has seen some good stat growth:</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="fFaWqeZ.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fFaWqeZ.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Financially, we made it out of debt with our final show of the year! We finished 2016 with a massive $86 in the bank, but it does give me confidence that I can hit Jackie's goal of $10k by the end of 2017.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>

And now onto the good stuff! My roll for 2016 was...</p><p>

17. “Nose To The Grindstone” You have devoted your holiday season to training in the ring +5 any top row skill of your choice</p><p> </p><p>

Not good, not bad. I decided to go for brawling to move it up to 47.</p><p> </p><p>

Goals for 2017:</p><p>

<strong>Hit Small</strong> - might be a push, but I am currently on 6 pop after one year so if I can do that again I should make it!</p><p>

<strong>Get a D rated match</strong> - I'm gonna blame the quality of my opponents here, as I didn't hire anyone who wanted more than $250. Hopefully as I grow and hire better and more popular workers (my products pop>perf) my grades will naturally increase.</p>

Skills now:

3ba1f4bdcb7b0917c2f6953ab7765793.png

- Puroresu skill hasn't moved one way or the other in a year. I'm afraid it's already capped which is not good.

- Athleticism and Stamina seem capped as well. Athleticism was at 64 and Stamina at 83 in August.

- No idea where the random points for Color are coming from since I'm not doing any.

Company: Real Japan Pro Wrestling (RJPW)

- Importance: 39/43 in the World, 10/11 in Japan

- Influence: Small, E+, 34/43 in the World, 9/11 in Japan

- Money: $27,132, 34/43 in the World

- Awards: Most Improved Company Of The Year (2017)

Owner Goals:

Average: Cannot hire any Japanese Juniors (Expires: September 2018)

Average: Cannot hire any Psychopaths (Expires: November 2018)

Average: Cannot hire any Spot Monkeys (Expires: July 2019)

Notes:

- Changed the schedule to two shows per month every other week starting January. Won't be getting as much in-ring time, but need to make money to stay in business.

- Finally got into black and stayed there in April with roughly $900 in the bank, so decided to take the leap to Small. Couldn't afford to raise my production enough to be competitive with EX2010's Semi-Pro production values and In House music department so kept on going and took the penalties on the chin.

- It's now June and UC is now firmly established as the figure head. Attendances are up by 6% and merch up by 20% with him as a figure head.

- Had to hire a cheaper referee in August after looking at July's finances. It turned out that my owner/referee was indeed getting paid despite the message saying otherwise. My locker room leader Silver Shibanuma also suddenly stopped being one so I brought in one Sean McFly, who divorced from Victoria and left NOTBPW in December of last year and had been unemployed since. He ended up taking Austin Smooth under his wing as his protege on his first night.

Geting the itch to try this again, so let's roll;

Start - Jan 2016

VPLvN4i.png

Current - Jan 2017

gZ0OQYy.png

CLASH Championship Wrestling

- Based In: Great Lakes, USA

- Owned By: Michael Bull

- Style: Old School Wrestling (Pop = Performance)

- Ranking: 41/41

- Money: $56,363 - 35/41 in the World

- Awards: N/A

Owner Goals

Critical: When the time expires, CLASH must not have fallen below #40 in the company rankings. (Expires: January 2018 - Currently #41 :( )

Critical: CLASH must not be in debt when the time expires. (Expires: January 2018)

Average: Can't hire any Janpanese Juniors (Expires: September 2017)

Average: Can't hire or extend anyone with less than 35 Charisma (Expires: November 2017)

Average: Can't hire or extend anyone with less than 35 Safety (Expires: May 2018)

Couple rough Owner Goals to start with, nothing unmanagable though. The 2nd one was a touch scary, meant I couldn't just hammer out weekly shows in Year 1. That said with the backing of a strong US economy (90 and falling as of Jan 2017) saw CLASH profitable by July.

Notes:

  •
  • Wrestling Industry started in the trash and has been steadily rising throughout the RTG, sitting at 54 and still rising.

  • We've have 2 solid prospects signed by RIPW already - usual suspect in Logan Wolfsbane (who unfortunately in his "goodbye" match vs UC, discovered their Good Chemistry vs each other and delivered UC's best match. Seth Whitehead was the other, bit of a head scratcher since he tends to stay under the radar but really frustrating since he had gotten himself quite over quickly. Shame on that one there.

  • Other Alumni feature Lucas Danger, whom lasted three shows after showing up high on the first and jobbed out for the next two. Was impaired and fired after his third match.

  • Main Event scene for the year featured one for the ages, green bodybuilder James "Justice" Joison, repackaged as the uber-patriot American Justice chasing the narcissist simply known as Steel. What a thrill for the fans to watch. To their credit both are slowly developing into somewhat tolerable workers, that and their On-Screen skills is quite valuable.

  • Thankfully for the fans, Steel's reign of terror ended at the hands of Dragon Takano - Avalanche Takano packaged as the no nonsense wrestling machine. By far and away the best worker on the roster, Takano holding the title solves the problem of a quality Main Event, though his excursion ends later this year....

  • Elsewhere in the Uppercard, "Shooter" Jim McGraw looms as Takano's heir apparant post-excursion. Jim McGraw himself was a quality regen with great Entertainment Skills (all started low to mid 60's), decent Performance (40s + 50s, though 65 in Consistency) and a 99 in Legitimate Gimmicks - the result? "Shooter" Jim McGraw was born and immediately made an impact, the MMA Badass staring down UC and sent Lucas Danger packing after a 6 minute squash.

  • Fearless Blue being actually useful. Given a mask, a new picture and whilst he'll likely never be the champ he's turning into quite the reliable hand - mid 50's in Psych and 76 Selling? Yes please. Also going from Average to Toned after 6 months of gameplay always helps his chances of sticking around. Currently in a team with fellow bumper Kid Fantastic.

End of Year Roll

#49 "Where There’s A Will" One of your die hard fans has passed on bequeathing their worldly possessions to your promotion. Do you accept it or donate it to charity? Gain EITHER $56,609 or +5 Prestige.

Taking the cash 100%, helps deal with the goal and gives me a couple of options. I'm closing in on Small and the Wrestling Industry is rising also, so the plan is to start smashing weekly shows and brute force it to Small (or until I can't afford to anymore). That said SWF, after locking away two quality pieces has given me potential Christmas gift...

I9rkUbE.png

Expensive? Oh yeah at $1,300 PPA but that's a hell of an upgrade in the top Heel department.

We'll see where 2017 takes us

End of Year 2

kZh1zYm.png

Year two in the books and the biggest improvement is from the Top Row, with the weaker skills jumping by 5. Fair shout to Safety catching up with the rest of the Performance Skills. Couple more years and Aussie should be a fairly decent hand. SQ's slow improvement is a massive worry though, hopefully hasn't capped at 80ish...

CLASH Championship Wrestling

- Based In: Great Lakes, USA

- Size: Small

- Owned By: Michael Bull

- Style: Old School Wrestling (Pop = Performance)

- Ranking: 35/40

- Money: $31,433 - 34/40 in the World

- Awards: N/A

Owner Goals

Critical: CLASH must not fall below Small (Expires: Jan 2020)

Average: Can't hire or extend anyone with less than 35 Safety (Expires: May 2018)

Average: Can't hire any Cruiserweights (Expires: May 2019)

Average: Can't hire any Luchadors (Expires: July 2020)

Passed the last couple goals easily, now just waiting for the next lot to come through. A little dissappointed to see the "No Cruiserweights or Luchadors" goal, considering they're a great source of cheap workers usually with great Selling for our big boys.

Notes:

  • Both Wrestling Industry and Economy is on the decline, both sitting mid 50's and still dropping

  • More poaching, but that's the life of a Small company. Austin Smooth to BHOTWG, Primus joining and gone to TCW within 3.5 months and Dragon Takano's excursion ending;

    8D7F61d.png

Shame but he's off to better things, was a steal for $380 PPA.

  • Intrepid Ian Identity's been a gem as Ian DeColt. NBT right behind UC and even has bulked up to Light Heavyweight, easily the most reliable Heel I've got right now.

  • I've hit the jackpot with a pair of regens;

    3H3FZkF.png
    GZjhP7c.png

Laurent Frye, an Obese Heavyweight with 99 Menace and fantastic Entertainment Skills, but god awful in the ring and Destin David, a Toned Super Heavyweight with AMAZING Performance Skills and not much else. Agreed to bulk up into a Giant and repackaged into David Liberty. Threw them together to cover their weakness and they're just caught fire, every angle rated on Menace is 80+ from Fyre and they're rocketing up the card. The hope is that Fyre will eventually get behind becoming a Super Heavyweight himself and get himself into shape - could be a future Mega Star with that Menace and Star Qaulity.

2018: #33 “Makeover Time” You get yourself an image makeover. Your sex appeal, star quality and menace EACH randomly change by anything between -5 and +15. (roll once for each stat)

Wonderful, rolls went 10 for Sex Appeal, 4 for SQ and 14 for Menace. Menace is fantastic, rest eh. 2018 awaits I guess
