Black Canvas Grappling: Dead Lions Do Not Roar [CVerse]

Recommended Posts

Got to say, I love how you format these shows. Back in the days we didn't have all that fancy stuff. How do you do all those borders etc? Can I quote your code and learn from it, maybe do my own version of all of that? It's really impressive looking! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Thanks for the kind words.</p><p> </p><p> Looking around the diary forum for puro lately I've definitely "inspired" a lot of people to use the shadow box format for shows and I helped get Historian started on doing his new format for The Climb shows.</p><p> </p><p> So yeah, go for it!</p>

<p>Popped this open on a whim since I know next to nothing about the CVerse and its lore and I got hooked. I'm a sucker for great presentation/formatting and puro stuff always draws me in. Binged this in one sitting and I've gotta say, this rules, man.</p><p> </p><p>

Other than several botched PGHW runs, BGC is the other Japanese company I've tried in TEW because I love me a good ol' fashioned touring schedule, so the premise pulled me in right away. All the other stuff is just bonus. I love tournaments, the introduction of the juniors is awesome, the retirement/anniversary/celebration shows rule, got some stables, and basically you're just hitting everything I love about Japanese wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

Needless to say, I'm all aboard this one. Keep up the killer work!</p>

</p><div style="text-align:left;"><p>Black Canvas Grappling announced the final card for BCG Generations in Nagoya 2016. This is the first of two big Generations shows for BCG (the other being in Osaka next week).</p><p> </p><p>

BCG also announced a special six-man tag team match has been added to the card, with Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Inejiro Yoshizawa & Noritoshi Miura) taking on Tasuka Iesada and American Demolition (Big Bruiser Findlay & Bulldozer Brandon Smith).</p><p> </p><p>

Tasuka Iesada will team with AmDem in what serves as a preview for the two championship matches at Generations in Osaka. Iesada challenged Torii after putting Torii out cold at Shiga's retirement show earlier this week and challenged the BCG World Champion to a match for his crown. American Demolition and Miura & Yoshizawa are set to clash over the BCG World Tag Team Championships in Osaka as well. Expect some fireworks in this matchup!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Yoshinaka Taku vs. Azumamaro Shimizu</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Young Lion Shimizu has been pushing himself against veteran competition all tour to prove he belongs as a BCG veteran himself. The next stop on the tour he matches up against Yoshinaka Taku, who is coming off a big win in the main event of BCG Last Warrior. Can Shimizu continue to show his worth?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Zeshin Makioka & Motoyuki Miyake vs. Tsuneyo Yanagimoto & Gidayu Katou</strong></p><p> </p><p>

M&M were victorious over the massive Rokuemon Matsushita and Naozane Goto to book their spot in the tournament finals while Tsu & Katou took down Blast Ikoma and Stealth Z. Each side brings great fire to the matchup and the winning team's veteran will get an automatic opportunity at the BCG Challengers Series Championship next tour! Who will prevail and win the inaugural veteran/young lion tournament?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Stone Yoshikawa vs. Frankie Perez</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Stone has knocked off Simon Ice and Japanese Phoenix so far in the tournament, mostly in dominant fashion. Perez beat Tobei Sugimura in the first round and outlasted Extraordinario Jr in the quarterfinals in a cracker of a match. Both men are looking to move on for a chance to become the first BCG Junior Heavyweight Champion in Osaka at the end of the tour.</p><p>

Who will take the penultimate step?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Orange Tsuchie vs. Razan Okamoto</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Razan and Orange both have had to earn their way to the semifinals the hard way, with Orange taking out KAZ and Jimmy Stratoshpere and Razan having to outwit the veteran Hidekazu and the Blood Fighter Totoya Sugimura. Both men bring an excellent aerial base blended with a technical style that should provide for an intriguing matchup.</p><p>

Will the Dawnguard stable continue their rise in BCG or will Orange book his ticket to the finals?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>©Greg Gauge vs. Roku Sotomura</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

In the main event, Greg Gauge has made an immediate impact in BCG wresting the Challengers Series Championship from Tanyu Toshusai last month. Roku won a 2 out of 3 falls Heritage Series tournament in January to earn his right to challenge.</p><p>

Will the boisterous Gauge continue his roll or will "The Rock" Sotomura stop him dead in his tracks?</p><p> </p><p>

Come see the above matches plus Funakoshi, Blast Ikoma, and the rest of the BCG roster!</p><p> </p><p>

BCG Generations in Nagoya 2016 takes place at Matsumoto Sports Dome Sunday afternoon in Chubu.</p><p> </p><p>

Rokuemon Matsushita | Naozane Goto

Matsushita & Goto end the match similar to last week, right in each other's face. The veterans hold back Matsushita and the Young Boys hold back Goto from coming to blows.

Yoshifusa Maeda comes out and tells them to separate and stop this nonsense. Matsushita acquiesces and heads up the ramp as Goto flings the younger wrestlers and trainees off of him and stomps up the ramp as well.

Orange Tsuchie vs. Razan Okamoto

Orange jump starts this match flying out of the corner with an Orange Flash (Corkscrew Kick) that just misses Razan as Orange crashes into the corner.

Okamoto responds with an attempted Brainbuster Suplex that Orange connects with a knee on his way up and the two men reset.

The two men exchange as Razan gets the best of the brawling while Orange is taking it to Razan in the grappling game.

The closing stretch sees Orange continue to capitalize on the ground and in the air as he connects with a big Missile Dropkick from the top rope!

Orange is to his feet and sprint for another Orange Flash. He hit it flush! The cover...

Orange is beside himself and pleads with the ref as Razan struggles to his feet.

Orange sees him and goes for another Orange Flash...

Razan caught the leg! He drops Tsuchie to the mat and catapults him to the corner turnbuckle!

Orange takes it in stride and leaps up on the turnbuckle! He launches spinning backwards into Razan, who hits Orange with a Spinning Forearm Smash! Razan just used Torii's finisher on Tsuchie!

Tsuchie crashes to the mat as Razan picks him up.

Match #6

BCG Junior Heavyweight Championship Tournament Semifinal Match

dYiNGTe.jpgGQDz9Zn.pngXkcV0LE.jpg

Stone Yoshikawa vs. Frankie Perez

Yoshikawa and Perez start this semifinal match off with a hand-shake, then circle each other slowly.

Yoshikawa is keeping his distance from Perez's dangerous kicks and is throwing lots of feints at Perez before wading in to exchange. Perez seems equally wary to get to close to Yoshikawa's technical base and is using his legs to keep distance and avoid a chain-wrestling exchange.

The two dance around each other some more for a bit before Perez finally starts to come forward, connecting with a couple kicks to Yoshikawa's midsection. Perez tries a third that Yoshikawa catches, then in one smooth move transitions it to an Ankle Lock, his finisher, that Perez has to quickly roll out of!

The two trade holds and strikes for a bit, with neither able to gain the upper hand. Every time Frankie wades in, his leg is contorted by Yoshikawa who is clearly working on the right ankle at this point. Perez, for his part, is connecting though with side kicks and elbows that daze Stone but don't put him down.

An opening comes for Perez as Yoshikawa tries for a Rolling Knee Bar on Frankie's right leg, but there is enough sweat at this point in the matchup that Frankie is able to kick Yoshikawa off and send him into the turnbuckle. Yoshikawa recovers but walks right into a release overhead suplex from Perez!

Perez scrambles to the down Stone and applies the P-Clutch (Camel Clutch with knee in opponents back). Frankie is trying to drive the right knee into Stone's back, but can't leverage it due to the damage Stone has already inflicted. With the hold at less than 100%, Stone is able to scramble to the rope for a break.

As the two-men seperate, Perez fires another kick to Stone's midsection that Stone catches and wrenches Perez's right leg again with a Dragon Screw!

Perez is noticeably hobbling on the right leg now as the two men fire off strikes at each other. Yoshikawa comes forward through a storm of elbows from Perez and picks the left leg! Frankie can't stand on his right leg alone and the two men crash to the mat.

A quick transition from Yoshikawa winds up with Stone on top of Perez as Stone grinds his knee into Perez's right leg. Perez reaches back to stop Stone, but it's in vain! Yoshikawa has the Ankle Lock applied in the middle of the ring with his knee on Perez's right leg.

Frankie is in trouble! Stone wrenches on the leg then stands up to add even more torque to the hold!

Perez is screaming in pain with his right foot aloft in the hold as he bounces on his left leg! Perez hops one last time off the left leg...

...and fires an airborne backward thrust kick to Yoshikawa!

It connects enough to get a break of the hold!

Perez is on one leg at this point as Yoshikawa goes to pick the leg again but is hit by a big knee from Perez! Another one! A third!

Yoshikawa is rocked and tumbles back to the corner! Last gasp here for Perez!

Perez lifts up Yoshikawa in a fireman's carry with the aide of the corner ropes and sets him on the top turnbuckle. Another big knee from Perez!

He cinches in he Perfect Parity (Muscle Buster), is he going to try this on one leg? He is! Frankie's got him up, holding Yoshikawa while hopping on his left leg. His face steels in resolve and with a final bounce off the left leg he drops Yoshikawa to the mat!

One.....Two.....

Three!

Frankie did it! He beat Yoshikawa on one leg!

Result

Frankie Perez defeated Stone Yoshikawa in 11:58 by pinfall with a Perfect Parity

BCG World Junior Heavyweight Tournament Final Hype

ercVAgD.jpgXkcV0LE.jpg2mho8h4.jpg

Yoshifusa Maeda | Frankie Perez | Razan Okamoto

Maeda invites Razan Okamoto back to the ring after the match as Razan and Frankie square off in the middle of the ring.

Razan looks confident with a towel around his neck as Perez chugs a water handed to him from one of the Young Lions at ringside. Welts are appearing on Perez's leg from the damage done by Yoshikawa during the match.

Maeda announces that it will be these two in the finals at BCG Generations in Osaka 2016!!!

Razan and Perez nod to the crowd and get nose to nose. Razan slaps the water bottle out of Perez's hand!

Perez, hopping on his good left leg, stares a hole through Razan. Frankie settles his feet and makes slow, throat slash gesture across his neck that sets off Okamoto!

Both men make a move to attack but, Maeda steps in to separate them and tells them to wait until next week!

zhgazqv.jpgTSue6T3.jpgGQDz9Zn.pngDG8b13e.jpg9Av0E18.jpg

Zeshin Makioka & Motoyuki Miyake vs. Tsuneyo Yanagimoto & Gidayu Katou

The two teams traded hard strikes throughout and Tsuneyo Yanagimoto showed why he is one of the best in the world mixing his aerial and technical ability.

The closing stretch saw Gidayu Katou connect with a massive Lariat on Miyake near the M&M corner! Katou, fired up turns to the fans on impact. Miyake is turned inside out so much in the impact of the move that he does a full revolution of his body that has his arms flailing.

Makioka sees this and just gets a fingertip of Miyake's hand from their corner as Katou's back is still turned. Katou turns around to finish off Miyake but walks right into a massive DDT from Zeshin Makioka, now the legal man!

Zeshin throws his arms up to celebrate but Yanagimoto slips in the ring and hits a kick to the midsection. Yanagimoto sets up for the Mikado Bomb (Tiger Bomb) but Miyake has come to and explodes out of the corner! Miyake leaps over the crouched over Makioka and connects flush with a Knee Strike KO on Yanagimoto!!!

Yanagimoto looks out cold!

Katou is up and tries a last ditch Lariat that Makioka ducks as Katou walks right into a Knock Out Kick from Miyake that floors Katou!

Zeshin Makioka pounces on the down Katou and locks in the Boston Crab!

Yanagimoto is still motionless on the ring canvas so no help is coming!

Katou taps!!!

M&M win the BCG Generations Series!!!

Result

Zeshin Makioka defeated Gidayu Katou in 15:16 by submission with a Boston Crab

He asks the camera man if they are still rolling, then promises that it doesn't matter who wins in tonight's main event, as HE will be waiting for them next tour!

Special Six-Man Tag Team Match

dSSxCn0.jpg8eacNqO.jpg0Qfdbmr.jpgGQDz9Zn.pngpmUwr1P.jpgQWBGy7R.jpgeRoDxu4.jpg

Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Inejiro Yoshizawa & Noritoshi Miura) vs. Tasuka Iesada & American Demolition (Big Bruiser Findlay & Bulldozer Brandon Smith)

Dawnguard is out first, slowly walking to the ring together.

American Demolition are next out and circle the outside of the ring readying for the match.

Tasuku Iesada is the last one out, and comes out to a huge ovation from the crowd.

This match was anything but pretty. All six men fired with everything they had leaving everyone feeling they were looking at a parking lot brawl instead of a wrestling match.

The closing stretch saw Miura & Yoshizawa teeing off on Bulldozer, looking to setup their End Of The World finisher, but Findlay came flying out of the corner with a double lariat to take them down!

Bulldozer makes the tag to Iesada!

American Demolition then setup Inejiro for a Spike Tombstone that they connect on!

Iesada Barrage (repeated knee strikes) to Miura! Miura is in deep trouble!

Torii tries to get in the ring but American Demolition cut him off and hold him in the corner.

Big knee again from Iesada, Miura might be out on his feet!

Iesada begins to stare at Torii, then motions for the Iesada Special (Seated Front Choke Sleeper).

Iesada is still staring right at Torii as the hold is locked in on Miura!

The ref checks on Miura....

No response! Miura is out!

The ref calls for the bell!

Result

Tasuku Iesada defeated Noritoshi Miura in 22:58 by submission with an Iesada Special

BCG World Championship Hype

ercVAgD.jpgdSSxCn0.jpgpmUwr1P.jpg

Yoshifusa Maeda | Bunrakuken Torii | Tasuku Iesada

Iesada has not broken his stare from Torii this whole time and tells American Demolition to let him through. AmDem do and head up the ramp with their arms raised aloft.

Torii, never one to back down, walks right up to Iesada. Torii calls for his championship from one of the young boys at ringside.

Torii holds the title aloft as he and Iesada stand inches apart.

Maeda is trying to get in between them, but Iesada moves Maeda aside and behind him! Iesada sticks his finger in Torii's chest!

Torii responds with a Spinning Forearm Smash holding the title that Iesada ducks...

...and connects flush with Yoshifusa Maeda!!! Maeda is writhing in pain in the middle of the ring as Toriis eyes turn into dinner plates!

The young boys all tend to Maeda as Funakoshi comes flying out of the back!

t6uGEuZ.jpg

Funakoshi

Dawnguard hightail it out of the ring and into the crowd as Fuankoshi and Iesada tend to Maeda.

Torii stops at the top of the ramp at Matsumoto Sports Dome and has his hands on his head not believing what he has done!

©Greg Gauge vs. Roku Sotomura

Gauge and Roku both stride confidently to the middle of the ring, staring deep into each others souls.

The referee rings the bell to start the match and the two men just stand there nose-to-nose. Neither man refuses to break his stare or move an inch for a full thirty seconds as the crowd comes alive.

Roku and Gauge begin talking to one another as both men nod their head slightly and the inactivity is broken up by a headbutt from Roku to Gauge that knocks him back!

Gauge smiles it off, shakes out his head and responds with a forearm that hits clean across Roku's jaw that knocks Roku back!

Roku adjusts his jaw, then smiles right back at Gauge!

The two men fire off right hands at each other with neither refusing to back down! A big swing of the right hand misses from Gauge and Roku steps through a knee that just misses Gauge's head.

The two men reset and wade in looking for an opening in the grappling game. Roku is working Gauge's back trying to wear him down for the Twisted Bow And Arrow, while Gauge is working Roku's left arm so that Roku can't lock the Bow And Arrow in tight.

They continue this way until the 15 minute mark of the match! This really is going to be a war of attrition! Roku is holding his left shoulder while Gauge is walking tenderly holding his lower back.

Gauge connects on a Lariat that knocks Roku to the mat and Gauge sets up for the world famous Proton Lock (Scorpion Deathlock w/Bridging Reverse Necklock). Gauge locks in the Scorpion Deathlock part and goes to bend back for the necklock, but is greeted by an elbow to his lower back from Roku!

Gauge writhes in agony as he stands back up facing away from Roku, who spins onto his back and cuts Gauge's legs out from under him dropping Gauge across Roku's knees!

Roku's going for the Twisted Bow and Arrow! He locks in Gauge's neck with the right hand and tries to grab on to Gauge's legs with his left!

Roku's got it! The Twisted Bow And Arrow is locked in!

Gauge is trying to wiggle free but Roku really applies the pressure now...

...but Gauge works a leg free and is kicking at the bad shoulder of Roku.

Roku has to break the hold!

Both men roll to their feet as Roku charges forward. A right hand from Gauge stops Roku in his tracks!

Gauge grabs a double-handed grip around Roku's neck, underhooking one arm. Gauge then arches backward, suplexing Roku so that he lands head-first on the mat!

Gauge just hit the Neutron Plex (Head And Arm Suplex)! A move made famous by his father Sam Keith!

Just like his dad, Gauge uses the Neutron Plex as a setup for the Proton Lock and this time is able to lock it in!

And Roku taps!!! It's over!!!

Gauge rolls free of Roku and holds the BCG Challengers Series Championship over his head with both arms as the show fades out!

Result

Greg Gauge defeated Roku Sotomura in 19:47 by submission with a Proton Lock

Greg Gauge makes his 1st defense of the BCG Challengers Series Championship

<p>Stone and Perez really killed that match, same way Perez and Extraordinario Jr did before. Think you have a soft spot for Frankie, or at least he inspires the hell out of you when it comes to writing his matches. Early candidate for Match of the Month, as far as I'm concerned.</p><p> </p><p>

Think Zeshin Makioka deserves the spotlight, coming in from another promotion to win the tournament and set up a Challengers Series title shot.</p>

<p>Love this dynasty. I like how realistically you run it for a Japanese promotion. Very similar to how I play, only I usually use WEXXV or LETHAL (in the Thunderverse) so there's like, more barbed wire and stuff.</p><p> </p><p>

Probably won't post much, but I'll definitely be reading this one for as long as it runs.</p>

<p>Just got to say I'm super impressed with this. I'm gutted I didn't get involved reading it at the beginning. Over the last year or so I'm mostly played Japanese promotions and I think this diary is such a perfect representation of how I imagine it and play it. I've considered puro diaries in the past but in some ways this makes me glad I didn't as it's essentially exactly how I'd like to do it but better. </p><p> </p><p>

Hopefully it's still going strong but either way I'll be sure to follow your stuff.</p><p> </p><p>

I do sort of agree with the comments way back when you started your jr division, in that it does feel a bit sacrilegious. Whenever I play as BCG or GCG I often still end up signing the odd lightweight just because you have so many amazing options but I tend to put a fairly low ceiling on them. Essentially it's acknowledge they are super talented but still rarely win solely because of their size, sometimes if they partner up with a super heavyweight they have a shot at tag gold. That said I've not read through this enough to comment on how well you've implemented the division so I'm sure you've done it in a good way, the bits I have seen look great.</p>
