TEW2020 Attribute Suggestion Thread

It's Reigning Boos: Basically, the opposite of A Groundswell of Support; the crowd has simply decided to hate this guy or gal. No matter what, the crowd just doesn't respond positively to this worker. Negative penalty on all segments the worker is involved in if he or she is a babyface, maybe a slight dampening of the effect if the worker turns heel. Lasts for a random time. Something like that. But even if the worker is a heel, it should still be negative heat, so a penalty as opposed to a bonus.

Not sure if this stuff has already been suggested, but here we go:

 

Basking In The Limelight: When this worker is booked in a promo for more than X minutes, they receive a performance bonus.

 

Iron Man: When this worker is booked to perform in a match longer than 30 minutes, they receive a performance bonus.

I Can't Stay Mad at You - This worker's reputation bounces back from negative incidents and scandals faster than usual, and Simmering Tension dissipates faster.

 

Holds A Grudge - This worker is more likely to develop Simmering Tension with others, and more likely to see it build into a more permanent negative relationship.

 

Bag Carrier - This worker seeks approval from older, more respected members of the locker room. (This attribute will go away more likely to go away when the worker hits the Young Lion cutoff or when he or she finds a mentor.)

 

Government Mule - This worker is hurt less by losses, but benefits less from wins.

<p><strong>Mini-Estrella</strong>: This worker has dwarfism - they get a bonus to matches against other wrestlers with this attribute, and are more likely to be booked in matches against them. But will get a negative fan reaction in some products and a negative to matches against wrestlers without this attribute.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Trained Medic</strong>: This worker has background training in medicine - small chance injuries that happen on shows they're booked on need less recovery time.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Physio-Therapist</strong>: This worker has a background in physio-therapy - wrestler has slightly faster recovery time of their body, effect covers their partner, and close friendships if in the same company. (Was thinking DDP and Jack Roberts?)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Intense Physio-Therapy</strong>: This worker has committed themselves to intense physio therapy in the hopes they will be able to overcome the odds and step in the ring again.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Awful Tattoo</strong>: This worker has an awful tattoo. Star Quality is lowered, unless they get it removed.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Amazing Tattoo</strong>: This worker has an amazing tattoo. Star Quality is increased, unless they get it removed. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Chronic Illness</strong>: This worker has a chronic illness that can flare up and cause them to be away from work for an extended period sometimes.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Exotic Dancer</strong>: This worker has a background as an exotic dancer - gains a small boost when performing in sex-sells based angles and eye-candy matches. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Strongly Feminist</strong>: This worker has a strong sense of their own bodily autonomy and are more likely to react negatively to someone trying to convince them to change their body size. Has a positive influence backstage at an entirely women's wrestling promotion.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Body Positive</strong>: This worker cannot be convinced to change their body size.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Blackballed by Women</strong>: This promoter has been silently blackballed by women in the industry, and will find many are flat out unwilling to work for them, and those that do, will ask for a lot more money and will not agree to long contracts. Chance daily that women working for them will quit. (Lasts 10 years as the industry moves on and less people remain in the know).</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Blackballed from The Big League</strong>: This worker has been silently blackballed by many influential people across the wrestling industry, they are far less likely to be hired by promotions above a certain size. (Lasts 5 years)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Blackballed from the Indies</strong>: This worker has been silently blackballed by a network of indie promoters, they are far less likely to be hired by promotions below a certain size. (Lasts 5 years)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Production Background (X)</strong>: This worker has a background skill in X (Film, Lighting, Sound, Graphics etc) - if they've worked for a promotion for longer than Y amount of time, and the promotion is insignificant in size and has less than Z amount of money, they may be willing to lend their skills, giving an increase to production quality.</p>

Control Freak: The worker is very unlikely to ever give up the role of booker in a company they are the owner of. They will also give more owner goals as an owner.

 

-This is a suggestion to simulate a Vince McMahon level of intense micromanagement and iron grip on company booking. Would be useful for mods where he always steps down from the booking role immediately.

I like the Mini-Estrella one, but I don't like the idea of being penalized for not booking minis vs. minis. In AAA, for example, they do a lot of trios matches where each team will have a mini on it. So you'd have a match that's set up like mini/exotico/random tecnico vs. mini/rudo exotico/random rudo, etc.

Another would be the option of Athlete/Former Athlete, basically for those who come into wrestling from a non fighting sports background, as well as people like Ernie Ladd, who'd wrestle in his off seasons, maybe with a 4-8 months awat from wrestling.</p>

Two likely related attributes aimed way more at the older eras here, and this would probably require a bit more coding than most but I figured I'd bring 'em up.

 

Shooter Mindset: Not necessarily someone who is a true-life shooter but they atleast believe themselves to be a capable fighter. If the opponent is a certain level of toughness below them (maybe 10 points or so?) they will refuse to put them over even if they're a bigger star. If their opponent is significantly tougher than them, they'll gladly put them over regardless of overness.

 

Easy Way Or The Hard Way: If this worker is unhappy with the planned result of a match, they have a possibility of disobeying and forcing a legit pin or submission. Chance of success could be weighted on the respective toughness of the performers or other physical performance factors. Also more likely to go along with planned screwjobs.

Specialized versions of Straight Edge would be nice. There are people who are teetotal but have no problems with steroids, for example.

 

Is it really straight edge when you do steroids? Isn't that instead just someone who doesn't take conventional hard, soft drugs, smokes or drinks but still takes body enhancing drugs? Straight Edge has such loose terms nowadays if that's true. Is Teetotal a new term?

Weekend Warrior: This worker has a day job and can only wrestle on the weekends. Takes more money to have them leave their day job unless they have high drive or risky personality, may require more pay to leave home area.

 

Nostalgia "I Remember him": Worker was a favorite or cult favorite in years past, can cause minor increase in attendance for short time, but it can be wore out if overused or if the worker does not connect again.

Sorry, I wasn't as clear as I could be. I meant Straight Edge as in the attribute. By "specialized versions of Straight Edge", I just meant being able to set it so they will never develop specific addictions. So one for alcohol, one for smoking, etc.

At a high level, something to make certain road agents better or worse based on the match their used for.

 

Maybe:

  • Good/Bad at planning squash matches
  • Good/Bad at planning longer matches
  • Good/Bad at technical masterclasses
  • Good/Bad at planning wild brawls
  • etc.

Functional Drinker/Soft Drug Addict/Painkiller Addict: The worker suffers all the usual penalties associated with alcohol/soft drug/painkiller addiction, but will rarely or never show up drunk/high to a show. Has a chance of converting to the standard version.

 

I guess you could possibly include hard drugs in there as well? And obviously wouldn't be relevant for smoking or steroids.

Served Their Country- small boost in pop if in the country they are from or something like that...

 

real-life examples: Sgt Slaughter, Lacey Evans, Montez Ford, Jaxson Ryker. Militaria vets seem to get cheered a bit more when its found out they are vets

Under A Bad Influence: This worker has chosen to surround themselves with unsavory types of friends outside of the business, possibly increasing their chances of running afoul of the law, being involved in various other type of negative incidents, and maybe even increasing the likelihood of developing addictions or relapsing into a previous addiction.

 

Amazing Support Group: This worker is surrounded by a rock-solid group of friends and associates outside of the business, likely leading them to follow the straight and narrow.....almost never being involved in legal issues, generally avoiding addiction issues (or more likely to recover/reform if they do occur).

Tourist only - Worker will only sign handshake deals with foreign companies, never a written deal.

 

Alternatively, go the other way and have:

 

Open to a move - Worker open to signing written deal with foreign companies.

 

This is designed to get around the removal of touring contracts.

Job For Life - A special attribute that can only develop when a worker has gained a Loyal relationship with the owner of a company. As long as that same owner is in power, the promotion will never try and release that worker no matter how much their skills or popularity deteriorate.

 

I imagine the Loyalty relationship already does this to an extent but I figure we can take it a step further. Some people can just hang around for decades even when they don't have much to offer anymore.
