TEW2020 Attribute Suggestion Thread

Recommended Posts

Not sure of a title for these but I was thinking about abilities that come into effect in older workers, specifically around skills decline, basically a RNG that would make the time decline of their skills faster or slower. There could even be positive abilities such as increased brawling skills (most older wrestlers tend to move into a brawling style in their later years to ease their in ring work), along with some that could help workers move into out of ring roles.

An idea I had, but not sure it can be done was to have specific traits for the backstage roles. So people would be limited to only 1 of these traits if they are assigned to be a specific role.

Brawling Road Agent - This Road Agent gives a bonus when working with wrestlers who are primarily brawlers.

(This trait can extend to all facets so Brawler/High Flier/Technical/Luchador.)

No Risk Road Agent - This Road Agent can not use High Spot/Crazy Bump/Car Crash/Stunt Bump notes. However they decrease the risk of injury between wrestlers they are instructing.

High Risk Road Agent - This road agent is all about making the moments. This road agent artificially bumps up the risk of each match he produces, but also increases the match quality slightly.

Training Road Agent - This Road Agent spends time training and helping young workers on shows he is producing. He can routinely hand down skills to young workers. Younger talent are at risk of minor injuries prior to the show, as a result of training.

(This would be helping in ring workers under 24. Similar to having them all as a protege but a lower amount of skills handed down and limiting to 1 potentially per show.)

Old Hand Road Agent - This road agent understand older workers and can help them produce a better product.

(Workers 39 and over get a slight boost in matches he produces.)

Old School Referee - This referee is known for having a slow hand and calling matches in an old school fashion. They struggle with flashy show matches. This makes the Flash Pinfall/Screwy Referee Finish/High Spots/Comedy notes unavailable.

Only 1 Fall - This referee struggles to do multiple matches in a night and will hinder the more matches he does.

Iconic Referee - This referee is famous for either his officiating or his past career. He can over shadow workers who are below his popularity reducing the match quality. However can elevate matches at his level.

Hard Nosed Referee - This referee is known for ensuring the in ring action stays clean. This makes Interference/distraction/screwy referee notes unavailable and makes managers less effective.

I know Adam said not to spam the thread with a 1000 ideas, but I just love this system so much and have some more ideas for character traits.

Master Negotiator - This worker knows his value and won't sign for anything less, and the perks must be included. (Character will only sign for the highest is contract is valued at, regardless of owner/booker traits and must have Travel/Accomodation Included. Other perks may be involved.)

Creative Controller - This worker must be in control of their destiny and won't sign a contract unless they get creative control.

Midas Touch - This worker will bump their proteges overness while they are working in the same company together.

Underhanded - This worker is more likely to try and turn the locker room against people with more star power than them.

Infection - This worker has an infection. It impacts their performance and cam result in other workers on the show from suffering an infection. (Infection lasts 1-3 weeks and they can only be infected once every 12 months. To prevent a spiral and every character getting it repeatedly. It would appear in Backstage incident screen with the option to send them home or not. Each show they are infected for.)

Celibate - This worker will not get in any romantic relationships in or out of the industry.

Content - This worker is just happy to be a part of something and won't ask for pay rises or complain about their time on the card or momentum. This worker cant gain negative morale.

Kleptomaniac - This worker contributes to a negative backstage environment. Has chance to create a backstage note of staff getting upset at stolen items. Has chance to have fines and police related incidences.

Wrestling In Blood: This worker will attempt to stay in wrestling their entire life. Makes it more likely they will transition into a backstage role after they retire.

Old School Mindset: This worker doesn't get along with others unless they are experienced and respected in the locker room (allows for creating older workers who don't get along with green talent)

Booking Mind: This worker is interested in transitioning to a booker after they retire (will always do so if they have this attribute)

Promoter at heart: This worker will likely always open a promotion at some point during their career. The size of the promotion is dependent upon popularity and wealth.

<p><strong>Aging Warrior</strong>: A veteran worker, who despite their physical abilities being in decline, will continue to work a full-time schedule. Booking them in shorter and/or multi-man matches will dampen the negative impact their declining abilities have on the match rating.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Always Relevant</strong>: This worker will always remain relevant in the wrestling industry regardless of their age.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Manager Turned Wrestler</strong>: A worker set as a non-wrestling manager who will eventually decide to step into the ring and start training to wrestle.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Wrestling Agent</strong>: Can work as both an active in-ring competitor and a road agent for the same company.</p><p>

(Not sure if this last one is possible, but would be for guys like Cody who is both a wrestler and a producer for AEW.)</p>

<strong>ALF</strong>: This worker is an alien life form from another planet. They will generally not be very social but will make a few very close friends. If they are overexposed they may attract the attention of secret government agencies that attempt to abduct them and perform experiments. They also eat cats, which occasionally leads to odd backstage incidents.

<strong>Wrestling Royalty</strong> –This worker is part of/associated with a highly prestigious family of wrestlers. They might be a talented performer themselves, of they might be Tamina, but in any case, AI companies will give them more opportunities than they would normally give to a worker of equal talent/popularity.

<p>Apologies in advance if these have already been suggested.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Undercover Government Agent</strong>: This worker is secretly working for a federal agency and is significantly more likely to expose dirty doctors and other drug incidents, illegal use of copyrighted music, and other illegal activities to the public, though they are usually sent out to expose drug problems in the industry. Their info can potentially bring down entire wrestling promotions and cause a general ruckus across the wrestling world.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Wheel In The Sky</strong>: This worker is constantly able to reinvent themselves as a character, and thus rarely receives poor gimmick ratings regardless of number of gimmick changes across a short span of time. Their characters are also less likely to become stale. (a la Chris Jericho)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Down With The Kool Kidz</strong>: This worker is a cult favorite amongst the 18-31 aged demographic and receives a general entertainment boost in matches booked by Cult product companies.</p><p> </p><p>

It would be interesting to see how the following personality would be programmed:</p><p>

<strong>Memeworthy</strong>: This worker has become a viral sensation for either good or bad reasons. Workers randomly receive this trait throughout their career, and it remains until they become irrelevant. Segments that emphasize a worker's best or worst stat result in a popularity boost when this trait is received.</p>

<p>Bunch of body types and weight class ideas.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Fitness Buff</strong> - This character is more likely to become Toned or Muscular, and is likely to stay in shape for longer even as they get older.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Fitness Snob</strong> - This character may cause backstage incidents with workers who have 'unhealthy' body shapes. May take a huge morale hit if a weight change request has a negative result.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Personal Trainer</strong> - This character is in great shape and wants their friends to be too! They may sometimes help positive relations to improve their body shape.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bodybuilding Fiend</strong> - This character is more receptive to climbing weight classes, but less likely to want to drop them. They are more likely to become Muscular or Ripped. </p><p>

- Possibly more susceptible to out-of-ring training injuries?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bigger is Better</strong> - A firm believer in size being everything, this character has a tendency to rise in size, dislikes dropping weight, and may balloon up unexpectedly.</p><p>

- Might take issue with losing to much smaller guys.</p><p>

- Possibly acts as an extra hiring bias as a booker towards big guys.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Small is Superior</strong> - This character believes small athletic guys are the way to go. They are unlikely to gain weight classes and trend towards Toned, Skinny and neutral shapes.</p><p>

- May get upset being asked to lose to big slow 'lumps'.</p><p>

- Hiring bias as above.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Pizza Lover</strong> - This character has a poor diet and is more likely to become Flabby or Obese. They're more likely to bring food to share backstage.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Gym's for Highschool</strong> - This character is uninterested in working out. Their weight changes are more likely to backfire, and their body type is more likely to change for the worse.</p>

<strong>Canadian Hero</strong> - A worker who takes special pride in the fact that he's Canadian, and is less willing to do a job in Canada. And I don't mean just Bret Hart; it's a known historical meme that Canadian wrestlers - especially ones from Montreal - were expecting to get special treatment when it came to working matches in Canada.

Plain Jane - This worker is unremarkable outside of the ring. They have no impact on the locker room and have standard morale with no bonuses or negatives. This worker is also unable to gain further attributes. (NB: This is a specific personality; each worker can only have one.)

True Love - This worker has married their True Love. They cannot gain any more relationship traits/form any more romantic relationships. Their partner also gains this trait.

Political Activist - This worker is a political activist and is more like to be fined or arrested on minor offences for protesting. This worker could also miss shows to attend protest rallies.

Generous - This worker is charitable in all aspects of their life. They are likely to get popularity boosts for charitable work, with bigger boosts based on their own popularity. This worker gets a negative performance note when playing a heel.

For the next two I know there was a rework re. Merch but I can't remember it exactly so not sure on this possibility.

Merch Man - This worker has the unique ability to get over there own merchandise. Because of that they will often see a boost in their merchandise sales.

Bad Fashion - This worker is just unfashionable and as such has poor marketability and his own merchandise sales suffer.

New role

I thinkt that there are a lot of good suggestions like the "tag team" wrestler or the match type specialist, but Im really missing the "writer" role from the old EWR game.

There you could hire production people and creative writters that would give you an edge or a boost in that segtion. It could be a nice role for a retired worker (Like Michael Hayes).

I would also like to see an option were you could convice a worker to become a personality, road agent, trainer etc.

The Jacques Rougeau attribute. Loving it. Here's another one that could work for him...

Hermit Kingdom Promoter: This promoter will only employ wrestlers trained by him and will never let one of his workers come back should they leave his promotion.

I love your idea. I'd also push for something a little more generalized in addition:

This promoter will hold a grudge against homegrown stars who leave the promotion (like Giant Baba with Tenryu).

Would it be possible to have certain attributes take effect in areas where worker loyalty is turned on? It's less of a big deal outside of Japan.

<p><strong>Gay Icon</strong> - This worker is very popular with the LGBTQ+ community, regardless of their personal sexuality. Receives a boost to merch sales.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Salt</strong> - This worker will actively attempt to agitate members of their promotion(s) to form a union and can't be placated by the booker or promoter. (not sure how to implement this one but shoutouts to Jesse)</p>

<strong>Big Timer</strong>: A big name worker who favors companies that are Big size or larger, will only work short term for companies that are Medium, and will refuse to work for companies that are Small size or smaller.</p>

<p>Religion</p><p> </p><p>

There should be multiple Religions set into the game such as Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and so on. The way this works is through 3 other attributes(Of course a larger scale like "Mildly Religious" or "Extremely Religious" can be made, but this is the basic idea) that are added to these other Religions:</p><p>

1) Religious: Will tend to preach backstage and have certain Backstage events. Never gets annoyed by preaching of people in the same religion, even when workers that are close to him do get annoyed, but gets more annoyed when people of other religions preach.</p><p> </p><p>

2)Irreligious:Although these follow a religion, the will tend not to preach backstage. They won't be annoyed by preaching in the same religion unless it annoys a close friend of theirs, and will only get slightly annoyed by preachers of other religions.</p><p> </p><p>

3)Atheist: Never Preaches at all and gets annoyed by any preaching. They are not assigned a religion.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks in advance.</p>

I'm sure there are religious people who would preach about their faith, and not be remotely bothered by others preaching. Similarly you could easily follow a faith but still be annoyed by someone preaching about that faith. I'm an atheist but have on numerous occasions been annoyed by preachy atheists.</p>

I have too much time on my hands...

Loyal - This worker has become loyal to their company. They won't sign with another company that has a hostile relationship with their home company. They will always prioritise the company they are loyal to. They require more financial incentives to be signed to Exclusive/Written contracts from their home company.

Impatient - This worker hasn't been given the role, push or title shot they have been promised. Their happiness will continue to go negative until that changes or they will leave the company. Financial bonuses/incentives in new contracts will not change this. (I am not sure if we can promise titles in contracts/talk to worker area. )

Confident - This worker is in the zone after a string of good performances. They get a performance boost in their segments (Angles/Matches)

Wrestler/Manager/ect. of the Year - This worker of the Year gets a bonus for the month of January after winning the appropriate of the Year award.

Sentimental - This worker is sentimental towards thoughts they have relationships with. They are more likely to offer to put over their friends/family/mentors/proteges

Selfish - This worker will not offer to put others over and is hard to talk into putting other workers over, or flat out will not.

Angle Agent - This road agent specialises in angles. They give bonus performance to angles and a negative performance to matches that they help produce.

Can't teach acting - This Road Agent gets negatives when producing angles as the road agent.

Chef - This worker has a love of cooking and has started to do so backstage. Regardless if there is catering or not. They increase the backstage morale. They also increase the risk of other workers becoming "Foodies".

Foodie - This worker has become enamoured with food. As such they are likely to decline in fitness and body types, and refuse suggestions to improve their body.

I want to put some manager ideas out there so will edit this.

So, thinking back on the dev diary, and in particular the "can change sexuality" that came and went due to controversy, I think the attribute system might provide the same desired result with less issue.

Closeted The worker is keeping his sexuality secret. Is far less likely to develop a romantic relationship at all, and if he does, it will be with someone outside of the business.
