<p>So thanks to Jon, I spent time last night poking around the 1997 Cverse mod. Its always held its appeals. Man, the talent Supreme had at that point. The lure of booking Sean McFly, Sam Keith, Bruce the Giant, and Christian Faith in their prime. Building up Tommy Cornell. Vets like Sid Streets. Loads of fun. But just not as appealing right now for some reason. I will probably go with the 2016 version of Supreme and maybe tackle the earlier version down the road. </p><p> </p><p>

Won't promise that Double E gets a heavy push, Jon. But its a slim possibility. If he behaves and maybe even improves a little (looking your direction here, Mr. Roberts), then its possible. Joey Morgan is gonna be a short leash too. </p><p> </p><p>

Its interesting how a new render or alt can change up things for certain workers. A "Macho Madness" inspired Mainstream Hernandez got posted up recently, and like that... plans for him changed. He was already going to get a pretty good push, but this just alters how I might be using him. </p><p> </p><p>

In typical fashion, I will be looking to set up another development company (or two) and a B show / second minor brand to help bring through new talent. The tag team division needs a bit of work and adding a cruiserweight division could be fun.</p>

I leave people in until they're ready, then have them work pre-shows against local talents until I have a storyline. I try to use RIPW as a training ground for people not necessarily likely to come to the SWF, where I sign some people on 9 months developmentals and then send them out when I start raiding for the blonde geniuses that proliferate the scene.

So a few weeks ago, I mentioned that I was eyeballing an SWF save almost purely because of the new Mainstream Hernandez render that I really dig. I ended up poking around in Supreme, deciding I didn't want to deal with some of the negatives, and ended up tackling CGC instead. It took two tries to get things "right" and I'm a couple months in, but the DeColt-centric booking is already a bit meh. I realize I don't HAVE TO book that way, but its the easiest way to ensure solid grades and some growth. But I has me lusting for a bigger Sports Entertainment company without better overall popularity. Been going back and forth a bit between the SWF or the AWF in the ThunderVerse. Leaning toward Supreme.

One of the things I started doing in the CGC save that I've done before but moved away from for no particular reason is rebranding workers. Hiring an indy worker, then giving them a new name. For example, I remade Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Findlay O'Farrady into Gunner and Barrage, the new version of the Soldiers of Fortune. Aldous Blackfire became Jakob Misery. A few guys went under masks. It adds a bit of fun and makes the save feel a bit more unique, even if you are using many of the same workers as previous saves.

As is typical for me, picking and choosing the new signings will be tough part. Don't want to bloat up the roster and developmental too much. I will open a second developmental company and stock it with talent, as well as open a B show to give TV time to guys I want to build up. But there are plenty of solid midcard vets in Supreme who can anchor the show.

One idea I've toyed with - signing a big worker with a great look who is pretty athletic and creating a "new" Dread. Just gotta settle on whom.

So how do you deal with a huge talent roster. Through hook & crook I usually end up with a gigantic roster. I always pledge that I won't do it but I love to collect. I'm also adverse to taking a "C" pop guy (I don't have a women's division cause that would make the issue even worse) and just jobbing them out even if that's what I planned to use them for (a worker with good skills but little charisma to get some match grades up).

I notice many diaries and posts talk about the huge rosters. I have a three hour show and also am not crazy about brand splits* though at some point I usually do one. So what are some ways to manage a huge roster?

* Actually I do use a B-brand split that is just for jobber storage, real jobbers not C level guys brought in to pop grades and maybe form tag teams.

Well being that you’re already rather familiar CGC, may I suggest Gargantuan as a suitable monster who has already shown he can hang at the top of a sports entertainment company and could make for a very suitable “new” Dread. I’ve done this in a USPW save, with great success. Brought in Dread ahead of time to do some menace work and preach about a new monster being summoned, then introduced Gargantuan and had him destroy people in menace angles until his pop reached main event status. I don’t see a reason why this wouldn’t work in SWF

Grave Digger? 85 SQ, 95 Menace. 50/50 Brawling & Hardcore (no Puroresu but you wont find that probably unless you go with Findlay or Bulldozer). 21 years old so plenty of time to develop him. He's not a surefire thing though. He's even more athletic than Dread, and got the power. Gotta wait till his written expires and hope you're international though.

Shave Rocky Golden bald, have someone destroy his face in a super hardcore match and you've got Dread? 100 SQ, 75 Menace (or just his ent skills), Muscular Big Heavyweight so he's Dread's size, 72 brawling, and 68 athleticism.

Scythe if you get lucky and he develops better than he did for me (capped at 73 psychology).

Not sure there's anyone much better. But I just sorted by Big Heavyweight and over, maybe theres a heavyweight you can tell to put on the weight.

Dread's glorious in CV97 <3 I'd love a modern version of him.

Isn't this just a standard monster heel thing and not really Dread. I think the whole distinct thing with Dread is that he was actually insane in the ring and didn't just get by on being a menace worker.

/sorry for double post, hadnt seen this.

Easiest option... don't bloat the roster. Saves you money, saves you time, allows your booking and storytelling to be more concise....

If the bloat isn't too bad, you can probably handle it with a B show and using the A show for the upper card goes. You can use a lot of stables, so talent are basically always grouped together - each angle has several involved, so you are using more of the roster for each segment. If the bloat is bad, adding a second A show becomes almost necessary. And that just makes booking much slower, whether you brand split or not.

As for Dread II....some nice suggestions, gents. I honestly hadn't really gone digging for options. I've mostly been updating some renders. There are a couple Gargantuan renders where he has a Vader-style mask and that's where the thought came from. But as Jon says, Gargantuan (and Prometheus for that matter) lack the athleticism to really be a nice Dread.

I guess it really depends on how "similar" I would want to be. There are some athletic heavyweights - Primus being the most athletic - but the level of athlete drops as you move into Big Heavyweights. Primus is a great shout but I already have some plans for him. Same with Scythe. And Ekuma - already have some ideas. Hellion just doesn't have the athleticism. I'm really liking the Grave Digger idea but that's gonna be a waiting game. I guess finding someone who fits in a lot of ways should be difficult, as Dread was a unique talent. Highly athletic big men who are actually really good workers should be rare.
