<p>Only Adam could confirm for sure whether there could be an early "editor only" release (there was for one game once), but I personally doubt it's possible. Even as we get close to release there are still small changes to be made to the game to fix up any bugs as they are discovered, and sometimes those necessitate a change to the structure of the game itself. When this happens, as has happened multiple times in the past for early big fixes, it means entire databases could need to be scrapped and savegames abandoned.</p><p> </p><p>

Rather than have the potential for people to be upset by losing out on any mod making or save game progress, it's generally better for the testing team (which gets expanded closer to release already) to stay focused on bug hunting. Some things will always get through the cracks and it never 100% rules out a bug that would require restarts, but it minimises the risks and maximise player happiness with the product. Which is better than WWE2K20 can say. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

EDIT: I also meant to add that the demo that is out a week or two ahead of full release generally counts as a final stage public beta to iron out last minute bugs. Even when the team puts hundreds of hours into testing, thousands of players can put in far more effort within a few days than we collectively do. A lot of it is going over the same things but it's also guaranteed that someone will do something we'd never tried at some point too, which is also why Adam generally encourages people to start new games when the full release happens rather than continuing demo games over. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Adam stated before that the four shows would count as four pay days (I'm pretty sure somewhere in this thread, because I asked the question!). I imagine this is to prevent it from being game breaking. It saves on production costs/venue rentals, etc.. and I think you only pay travel (if you're paying travel) once.

It wouldn't make any sense to pay for 4 travel trips, but I guess it could cover for the hotel costs which could be about the same. It would definitely be beneficial in the way SHIMMER did it: fly over Japanese workers once to work 4 separate shows. In the game you'd be bankrupt if it was weekly.

Honestly if you're concerned about "game-breaking": there's so many ways you can do this, no matter what, so why bother. :p You could put a ring general in 3 short matches each show and only pay him once and there's no penalty (afaik in 2016).

@kito333: I'm not sure at all but maybe modders can achieve that by contacting Adam to edit the Access file. But you have to know what you're doing as you can easily break the game modding it that way. If it's somehow hardcoded into the exe I don't think there's an option.

I may have missed it getting answered but I did not find it anywhere in the dev journal but have we gotten any clarification on what the different stable types were? I am just curious so it isn't the end of the world if its something that Adam does not want to open the can of worms on explaining certain things. Thanks!

Type: This can either be Faction, Brotherhood, Cult, Gang or Alliance; this controls how they act and are rated.

I think this is a knee jerk reaction. Adam has crafted the Cornell-Verse from scratch, because he wanted to make a career out of making the game. Since he can't use licensed workers and promotions, he instead made a deep and rich universe that balances perfectly for his game.

The ease of use for modders and wanting the mod community to share stuff is done, because there is I'm sure a large section of players who only play real world stuff, and they wanted to help build that audience. To say they want to make it youtube and streamer friendly is straight fabrication, with no substantial evidence, as well as saying we won't get another update to the Cverse. I just don't see where you came up with this idea, and it isn't really an opinion more so a theory.

People stream TEW? Why?

(I'm really too old for this internet stuff)

Of course Grey Dog want to make a game that allows people to play and develop real world mods. I've always assumed that was 99% the point since the beginning and when 99% of the money comes from, with the C'Verse being a delightful secondary bit of fun with a small following. I don't see how Youtube changes that, unless the revenue streams are that enticing, and find a way to make it back to the company.

My line of thought was they’d just put the same, static database in every game after 2020. Anyway, Adam has spoken on it now, so I’m gonna calm down and stay optimistic about the future of the game universe. I guess I’m just irrationally attached to the C-Verse because I played my first save with it at a time when WWE really disappointed me with WrestleMania 34. I still dislike almost everything the Fed puts out, so I have trouble rationalizing to myself how people can try to fix that product without some sort of grand conspiracy being involved. I apologize if I freaked anybody out.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Kinda dumb to say something like that without any info backing it up. But I guess the president be made it work so yeah. Adam been doing the same thing for years and it works why change it.</p>

Speedrunning TEW sounds like something that can take a really long time. Maybe a speedrun of how fast you can book an 80 overall pop of WWE with 3 hour Raw/ 2 hour Smackdown's & 4 hour PPV's for an entire year without using Autobooker & not lose popularity from any of your shows. That would be quite the challenging thing to speedrun. At least IMO that sounds really hard.

Casual gaming doesn't really teach you the speed tech. That's why speed games usually have tutorials, and communities than share knowledge. When I started running the Super Nintendo Mega Man X games way back when, I thought hey, I've beaten these games a million times, I'll know how to speedrun them. But lol, I really didn't. But the learning process is fun. As for which game you should pick, if you really are interested, it's a game you can play over and over and over. That's it, really.</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, not to venture too far offtopic, as far something like TEW speedrunning would go, I think the categories should be things like Local to Global, Local to Cult, and stuff mentioned in the above post. And I think it would use in-game time, as opposed to "real time". I think some shorter categories could actually be a pretty fun thing to look at.</p><p> </p><p> Of course, the unfortunate thing is, Adam would be quick to patch out any exploits that are discovered and shared on the forums. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> I'm just kidding.</p>

Tried to read through the notes again after a while but couldn't find whether it's now possible to search for singles matches. It's not with the QoL changes. Hopefully it was so minor a change it's not even listed. :D Just went through the suggestion thread and at least 3 other people beside me posted the exact same thing. I hope it'll be added.

And has there anything been said about using workers for other purposes (like Cena)? One can debate that the game is not a "entertainment" company sim, but some small options would be nice. But then again, it'd probably end up being an exploit for "pop gains".

That doesn't seem like a bad idea... Here's my take:

If a company is National or higher, you can select one worker a month (or 3 months or something) to do a "public appearance," like a talk show, podcast, etc. Depending on the worker's behavior/personality and entertainment skills, there could be a +/- of like 5 popularity of the worker and a +/- of 2 for company prestige...

Obviously a rough outline but I would absolutely love that. Makes the game more immersive while not adding THAT much more to the backend.

Yeah, but you'd basically only use it on stars with "time off". Or it could be a random happening like in WMMA4 (an approach I really like). One talkshow shouldn't raise their pop more than 1%. Maybe Adam somehow contemplated it and just dismissed the idea as it's hard to translate to good gameplay imo.

I love the above idea, maybe bundle it with something like getting a short term trait that may send them away to make a movie.

So you send Cena in this case to do a media tour for 3 months, bumping his popularity. If it was successful he gets a trait that makes it more likely he gets a Movie/TV Deal and is required to go on Haitus longer. Obviously if they bomb their media appearances ther dont.

That way you can use it on injured guys, but you then increase the risk of them leaving the company for a short time or even the entire business.

In terms of exact figures, no - they depend on size, product settings, and owner settings, so other than posting lots of tables of figures there's no way to display that in a post. The general gist is that the rosters are slightly larger than TEW2016, but not to crazy levels. None of this should impact the planning of mods as you can quite easily play around with the owner settings to get to the desired number anyway.

So its going to continue the legacy issue of not being able to give RW companies their accurate rosters, and needing to leave out lower card guys so they don't get automatically released, etc? I hope that isn't the case.
