TEW2020 Attribute Suggestion Thread

Recommended Posts

Old-Fashioned Announcer: This veteran announcer/colour commentator is more in their element in old school, classic products, but is not very familiar with modern products and younger wrestlers. Younger companies will still be interested in hiring them because they're a respected figure who can bring them more legitimacy, but their audible lack of knowledge and/or interest in modern wrestling will affect their skills negatively when calling matches for "hip" products like "Absurdist Entertainment", "Campy Fun", "Performance Art" or "Wrestling Nerd Nirvana".

Too Cool for School Announcer: This young announcer/colour commentator has a tongue-in-cheel approach to commentating, and is more in their element in promotions that don't treat wrestling too seriously. Old school companies will still be interested in hiring them because they'll think they will make them seem less out of touch, but the way they tend to treat things as a joke will affect their skills negatively when calling matches for "classic" products.

<p>I was wondering about attributes that impact the duration - rather than the likelihood or strength - of negative or positive events.</p><p> </p><p>

For example:</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Stubborn</strong> - This worker will retain negative morale effects from booking decisions for longer. They will also be more resistant to conversation/meddling/persuasion attempts.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bears a grudge</strong> - This worker will retain negative moral effects from backstage incidents for longer. They will also retain "simmering tension" relationships for longer.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Forgive and forget</strong> - Negative morale effects, as well as negative relationships, will fade (more quickly) over time.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Apologies if I have missed anything which makes these suggestions superfluous. I have been away from these boards for a while, and so I've had quite a lot of reading to do to catch up on the development of 2020.</p>

Got my creative juices flowing with specific AI traits that could be used for bookers and owners. Not sure how or if they could be implemented.

I Control Them - This owner will call up wrestlers without warning the child company. (To make them more like Humans at times.)

Deal With My Problems - This owner is more likely to push any negative influences to their child company. (With a cap on the workers perception. So they wont dump their problematic Stars.)

Eye for talent - This booker is more likely to hire and sign talent who have a high destiny role.

Past is the Future - This owner is more likely to present goals that relate to getting over or maintaining the perception of older wrestlers.

Frugal Financialist - This owner is more likely to impose strict financial goals to users and reject high priced contracts.

I'm the Star/Byron - This owner is a part of the company and as such will demand to be center stage with a Championship or enough in-ring time each week.

Cashed Up! - This owner may randomly supply a cash injection to the company.

Aggressive Booker - This booker is aggressive when signing talent from rivals, and will often raid other companies to fill their needs.

Peaceful Booker - This booker will only sign unemployed talent, and not raid other companies.

<p>So I looked through thread/already in the game post and dont think I saw these, sorry if I'm wrong</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>styles clash</strong></p><p> </p><p>

So things like 'doesn't match well with technicians' 'doesn't match well with luchadors' etc.</p><p> </p><p>

Basically I was trying to think of a way where you can't just shove two people in the ring together agd as long as product matches you're going to get a decent rating. My main thinking was for psychopaths and technicians, luchadors and pure etc. I know some might be ok, but others would struggle. But I believe at the moment as long as product was fine they'd still get good ratings together as long as the right skills were rated high enough? This would make it so a psychopath worker with high brawling couldn't just step in the ring with a luchador with high high flying and just be fine. They'd get a penalty if one person struggles, bigger penalty if both struggle against each other.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

This might already be one but I did read thread twice, but "does/doesn't work well with bigger/smaller" basically the stuff that's already in the game and hinted at on website through interviews, but as an attribute </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

And finally an attribute for not wanted to take part in inter-gender wrestling, so a guy wont want to face a woman and vice versa. Could still sign for a company with integrated rosters but add an extra layer to it if they refuse to fight the opposite sex</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Hope these aren't repetitive, only got access to phone at the moment so harder to look through threads</p>

Born With A Mane - This worker is not required to go through the standard "Young Lion" phase of their career even if they lack the respect of their peers.

Don't Need One - This worker (usually a young lion) will never go through the "Excursion" phase of their career, whether they are too seasoned to require it, have already "paid their dues" or simply refuse to spend time abroad to hone their skils.

I'm hoping I didn't miss that these were already posted:

That Doesn't Work for Me Brother - Worker will never offer to put someone over. Worker is less likely to agree to put someone over when asked.

It's Just a Job - Worker is more likely to offer to put someone over.

Incredible Finisher - I love the hot new move attribute, but how about one for people who have superb finishers to get a slight bonus when they win a match using one (presumably easiest to just do any decisive win.) Thinking about Star Master's Cosmic Crunch and Jimmy Cox's Immortal Driver in the CVerse, for example.

Equality Fighter: A female wrestler who wants to show that she can compete with the male counterpart.

This allows A.I companies with women's division to book this female worker against men.

Gender Bender: A male wrestler who wants to show that he can beat any female counterpart.

This allows A.I companies with women's division to book this male worker against female.

Funky Business: This worker just wants to keep going and will usually accept offers to return from retirement no matter how broken down he is. Can/should be countered with the creation of the opposite attribute for the (very few) workers willing to go out into the sunset at the top of their game. We could call this second attribute Never Looks Back.

We The People: Regardless of nationality, this worker will always choose American offers from the best ones he has, as his objective is to work and live there.

Forgive me if there already is something like this as I have been unable to try out the beta.

Local Yokel: This worker will not only want to stay in their home region, but won't sign with companies bigger than Small. You pretty much have to break the bank to sign him/her.

A few to be opposite of some of the attributes land some other ideas

Slow Healer - The worker seems to recover from significant injuries far slower than a normal human should

Family First Woman - The worker is more likely to become pregnant

Golden Mane - This Worker will never agree to lose their hair

Legally Blind? - This worker has issues with depth perception and so the hidden cap on his safety is capped

Deaf - can cause some miscommunications in the ring from time to time resulting in a worse match (Deaf touch)

B-Movie Star - Similar to Movie Star but less of a boost to popularity, has a Chance to become movie star over time

Guest Star - Similar to TV Star but will only disappear for like a week and has a small chance to increase popularity, can become TV Star over time

Aspiring Politician - Worker will become a politician after retirement from active competition

Actual Politician - Worker is a politician has a higher chance of leaving the business, will only sign 1 appearance contracts as though they are a Special Guest

Lone Wolf - Worker gives a penalty to any tag team he’s in if it is less than 85 experience or has positive chemistry

Old Style Gladiator - Worker gets a small bonus in one vs one matches

New Style Gladiator - Worker gets a small bonus in matches with 3 or more combatants

Emotional performer - This Worker let’s there emotions out in full swing during matches , if they have a positive relationship with the other wrestlers they can cover for their weaknesses if they have a negative relationship with them however they will purposely make them look bad

Life Long Underdog - Being Squashed is their speciality, they they lose less momentum when being dominated against

No Filter - This Worker refuses to be scripted and will get angry if asked to regardless of their personality otherwise, and may even go unscripted against the booker if unhappy

Where’s my script? - This Worker struggles when not using a script regardless of their stats and will go deer in the headlights if asked to be unscripted

Scandalous - Workers with this trait are more likely to indulge in controversial photoshoots and get involved in things like sex tapes

Master Backstage Politician - These Workers are completely two faced, they may down right refuse to lose to anyone who isn’t there equal and even turn down open matches with “lesser talent” as it makes them look bad

Sore Loser - A hidden trait, if asked to lose a match they may just intentionally make there opponent look bad

Gateway User - Users with this trait will find it very difficult to get off of addictions and are more likely to start new ones

I could possibly come up with more but this comment is already rather long

Martial Arts Training: Similar to 'Former Pro Martial Artist' reflective that they have martial arts training, but never became a pro.

Could influence how they do in backstage fights.

Former Amateur Wrestler: Pretty straight forward, with how many former amateur wrestlers are in the business it makes sense.

Former High Level Amateur Wrestler: Same as the former, but they were NCAA and World Championship caliber. Can make it more likely they improve their basics and technical skills.

Former Elite Amateur Wrestler: Former Olympic caliber wrestler, are more likely to have high technical skills and basics.

Is it possible to add more role specific Attributes?

This came to mind when talking about the penalties for match lengths. I think reducing the normal penalties for being outside the existing time limits slightly and adding in some of these attributes will give overall a similar effect, as well as more variety and strategy to booking. Also if someone retires and becomes a road agent, they might not be up to your usual standard on their stats but they happen to roll a powerful attribute, you would be more inclined to keep them around. Similarly, if a legend with excellent stats retires but pops out an attribute that stops him booking matches beyond 10 minutes, you might let him go.

Like the Epic Bards of Old: When assigned as a road agent, this worker has a large bonus when booking matches that go over the company's usual limits.

Effect: matches can be X minutes longer before penalties apply and all penalties for matches going too long are softened

Long Term Planner: When assigned as a road agent, this worker has a bonus when booking matches that go over the company's usual limits.

Effect: matches can be (X-Y) minutes longer before penalties apply and most penalties for matches going too long are softened

Just a Few More Minutes: When assigned as a road agent, this worker has a small bonus when booking matches that go over the company's usual limits.

Effect: matches can be (X-Y-Z) minutes longer before penalties apply and penalties for matches going slightly longer are softened

Time Padder: When assigned as a road agent, this worker has a small additional penalty when booking matches that go over the company's usual limits.

Effect: matches have to be (X-Y-Z) minutes shorter or penalties apply and penalties for matches going too long are slightly increased

Short of Ideas: When assigned as a road agent, this worker has an additional penalty when booking matches that go over the company's usual limits.

Effect: matches have to be (X-Y) minutes shorter or penalties apply and penalties for matches going too long are increased

Are We Done Yet?: When assigned as a road agent, this worker has a large additional penalty when booking matches that go over the company's usual limits.

Effect: matches have to be X minutes shorter or penalties apply and penalties for matches going too long are greatly increased

A similar set of attributes could be created for the other end, where workers get bonuses/penalties for being good/bad at booking short matches. If you could start cross-connecting attributes so a guy that benefits from being booked in squashes is more likely to develop a friendship with an agent that is good at booking short matches, etc. then you open up a whole new layer of immersion and dynamism in the game world.

This could apply to other parts of match booking too (better/worse at being the road agent for Storytelling, Steal the Show, etc.) to give your road agents some real character. If someone is particularly good at longer matches that are Once In A Lifetime but not necessarily one of your top few agents, they might suddenly be worth keeping around or at least as a development trainer until you hit that moment.

And then you can extend it to other staff too. Commentators that get bonuses/penalties based on product (someone that is a good Wrestling-As-Sport commentator is going to struggle in a Comedy Entertainment promotion, or you get to see the difference in Jerry Lawler, who might have a bonus for Risque content and thrive in the Attitude Era but have a penalty for PG Sports Entertainment so suffer in the modern era), referees bonuses/penalties for singles/tag/etc., managers that get bonuses for managing bigger workers or workers with certain gimmick types.

There's so much depth that could be added to the non-wrestling workers by using the attribute system.

I'm not sure if this doable, per se, but as an idea.

On Hiatus: Simply put, this worker is on a hiatus from the wrestling business as a whole for a random period of time. Like, say, three months to three years, or something like that. Point being, it's like any other random attribute. But the effect is that he simply flat out refuses all negotiation attempts.

I think there is an event similar to this called Personal Reasons. I don't think it is related specifically to attributes though.

Just a few that have sprung to mind now that I’ve started adding in the editor:

Pursuit of Liberties: worker is more inclined to take liberties in the ring that could injure others if things aren’t going their way.

Respects their elders: more likely to forge friendships with veteran workers than youngsters

Move over grandpa: more likely to forge negative relationships with veterans as they pursue a higher place on the card.

Alpha: a worker who demands respect in the backstage. More likely to form negative relationships with those who don’t show fealty or have low respect levels.
