Small Questions Thread & "Living FAQ"

Recommended Posts

I'm running TCW and when I started I was stoked to find that Matt Hocking was listed in Next Big Things and had the description "26 year old Matt Hocking has almost unlimited potential; he seems to have that something special about him that might just translate into potential superstardom. It would be wise to book him carefully so as not to damage or reduce his potential impact." which as far as I know is like the best outcome you can get for a workers potential overness.

But after like a month or so his description changed to "At just 26 years of age, time is on the side of Matt Hocking, but even though he has a whole career in front of him it's already clear that there is something special about him; he definitely has the feel of a future star, and someone who could potentially carry an entire company on his back."

Does this mean his potential has decreased for some reason? He's gone about 5-1 in matches over this period with his only loss being to a more popular Jay Chord for the International Title and has had a few solid promos during that time as well.

He's also listed under hot prospects with the description "Matt Hocking is somebody who should be handled carefully, as it's clear that the 26 year old has all the raw materials needed to create a big star in the future, he is showing signs of turning into a fantastic in-ring performer." But that one thankfully hasn't changed.

It changed because he got closer to his potential cap.

Hi guys, one from me.

I'm looking at strapping a rocket to Ross Henry. (The year is 2022, nearly 23 and he's a 6 year pro.) His selling is 60. Any ways I can boost that stat? And to mitigate it, do I just look to put him against opponents with as high a selling stat as possible.

As with most stats, he’ll learn by putting him in matches with people with higher selling than him. So you’re on the right track.

One thing you can do is to go into the in game editor, go to his profile and skills. Change selling to 100. Save. Reopen his skills and reset it back to what it was before. It'll "break" the cap.

I want to move TEW from my old computer to my newer one in preparation for the release of 2020. I know that I have to deal with transferring my license. What's the easiest way to do this?

There is a licensing FAQ pinned to the top of the Technical Support forum. To briefly recap, all you need to do is unlicense the game off your old computer and then type in your now-available license code on your new computer.

I am trying to find out the following. Is it possible to play my current save game on the new TEW 2020? Will there be any converter? As far as i understand there is a database converter, but i do not remember if there is a save converter.

I have a current save game with 38y of history, i do not want to lose that.

You can't continue it.

Unless you were patient enough to turn that save into a db by yourself, and then convert, you will sadly be losing it, or at least playing it in TEW 16, if you wish to continue.

Ok, what is the process of "converting that database"? i mean, what would i need to do and how technically would i be able to do that? I do not mind spending time in the editor sorting out the database. In fact, i love fiddling around with the editor, i have spent hours doing that.

It wouldn't be something made in little time. But given the current world situation, if you do have the time, it is worth a shot, as it will make you familiar with the editor, at least. But it literally means you will have to create a database based on the most recent day of your save. You would have to create the workers, make sure the popularity, skills and everything else is exactly set up according to what is going on in your game, then tweak where needed to adapt to new features.

That last part will be one that will be able to be explained only after we get the actual game. It's mostly creating a db from scratch, except based on a specific data from your current point of the save.

I don't exactly know if it would possible to match/replicate every single thing, cause I never really tried such an undertaking, but you could definitely get at least the gist of the save in there. But it will take time and effort.

Edit: I guess importing could probably facilitate some of the issues, but it would still take a lot of time.

I'm not sure on exact numbers for further down the card, but personality also plays into it as well.
