Diary Preview And Questions Thread

Recommended Posts

Inspired by TFC's Golden Age WWF diary, I'm going to turn my hand to JCP at the same time... Here's the preview:

Saving a Sinking Ship

From the Journal of Jim Crockett Jr, Week 4 – February 1987.

It was all going wrong. The NWA was on the ropes and only my company, Jim Crockett Promotions, was even close to riding out the storm. Just this week I had agreed to bail out Mike Graham in Florida, the once proud Championship Wrestling from Florida was absorbed into my company more as a favour to some of my roster than any real expectation of using them to close the gap on the WWF.

And make no mistake that gap was rising – Vince McMahon’s juggernaut had crushed the life out of the majority of the territories – it was only us, Verne Gagne in the Mid-West, Jerry Jarrett in Memphis and the cluttered Mid-South scene with Bill Watts and Fritz Von Erich cutting each other’s throats that were left. There were others of course such as the WWA, the isolated PNW and niche products like GLOW but to all extents and purposes it was us five against Vince. While the rest were happy to build their own little powerhouses that were slowly being eaten away, I had realised early that if we were to survive, if I was to survive, I’d have to step up the game.

And we had been looking good, we had the best wrestler on the planet in Ric Flair, on top of the company defending his title in epic matches with his trusty gang – The Four Horsemen dominating the scene. His arch nemesis, and the head booker of this boom, Dusty Rhodes was personally grooming the next wrestling superstar Magnum T.A. who had the look and the skills to rival even Hulk Hogan’s popularity if pushed the right way – his feud with the Koloffs was the last piece of the puzzle – a victory there and then another over Flair would transition the title to a new level and we already had Lex Luger waiting in the wings to be built to oppose him – they’d be the Flair/Rhodes for the new generation and just like Harley had been there to cement Flair as a true superstar, he’d still be there to pass the torch with a locker room of supporting acts like Barry Windham, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and Nikita Koloff – we had built the pieces extremely well and were ready to ride the storm – let Vince take Verne out, while he was doing that I’d clean up in the South-East and Mid-South… I’d build a strong powerhouse, wait for Vince to make his mistakes (because they will come) and then swoop in, gradually winning all of the old territorial areas back under the NWA banner…

but then came the crash… Magnum T.A. our prize asset and the first essential piece of the jigsaw was involved in a career ending smash. Hell, he was lucky to still be alive never mind the fact his wrestling career was over!

Dusty moved the pieces around and turned Nikita Koloff face – it was the best he could do at short notice… the problem is that short notice appears to be the buzz word now, here we were two months into 1987 and absolutely directionless while the WWF look set to fill the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit: it wasn’t good enough!

I called Dusty into my office and asked him what the long term goal of his top feuds were – Ric’s current storyline obsession with Jimmy Garvin’s wife ‘Precious’ was to lead to him dropping the title, not to Jimmy – but his ‘brother’ Ronnie. I like Ron. He’s a good guy… but he’s not the kind of guy who’s going to bring the fans in – he’s not the kind of guy who people are going to see as the real world champion compared to a guy like Hulk Hogan… it was laughable. I then asked him to explain the title situation to me – we had three sets of tag belts only one of which was being held by a bonafide team – and even they weren’t the best pairing that could be made. His other top storylines involved a semi-retired wrestler who was desperate to hold the book and the seemingly never ending feud between Dusty and the Horsemen – they were convoluted storylines that failed to show any long term star making qualities…

I explained to Dusty again what my vision was and asked him how he could deliver this… he thought for a second and then gave me his master plan… transition the belt on to Dusty and have him lose it to Lex Luger – they could then feud around the country in steel cage matches with Dusty winning the belt back at Starrcade and dropping it back to Ric again before the two of them began feuding through 1988, assuming I didn’t trust Ronnie to run with the belt.

I shook my head in dismay. Things would have to change. Now. I told Dusty that he no longer held the book. He was furious, and demanded to know why I’d let Ric have his ear before him… I explained that this had nothing to do with Ric or any of the other boys. I was aware that Ole wanted the book, Kevin Sullivan was itching for a chance too as was Ric himself but none of them really understood what I wanted and where I saw this company going – I was the only one who could deliver my vision and as big a cliché as it was, if I wanted this job done right, I was going to have to do it myself.

And so on the eve of the biggest wrestling show of all time, being run by the man who was looking to put me out of business, I finally stepped up and took the controls of the boat for myself. We were still headed for the iceberg but I spun that wheel one last time and hoped that I’d changed the course enough to avoid sinking the ship.

It is the year 2014.

American wrestling is dominated by the battles of Big Four.

http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o566/kanegan/TEW/T-verse/AWF_zpsc8111b95.jpghttp://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o566/kanegan/TEW/T-verse/CWT_zps2d6f0659.jpghttp://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o566/kanegan/TEW/T-verse/DRAGON_zps87b883bd.jpghttp://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o566/kanegan/TEW/T-verse/PWI_zps1fb95f95.jpg

This story is not about them.

The wrestling scene is also witness to a couple of promotions indulging in the most hardcore of brawls you will ever see in the world.

This story is not about them either.

American wrestling scene has come a long way and here you will find a variety of promotions jostling for glory.

You have a couple of touring promotions

http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o566/kanegan/TEW/T-verse/WrestlasaurasX_zps44fc4f2b.jpghttp://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o566/kanegan/TEW/T-verse/GAW_zps28b63485.jpg

While the 1st one incorporates comedy lucha libre in its shows, the other is home to all the old rotten fossils that who want the spotlight even in their state of utter irrelevance.

Comedy lucha libre might be in thing as it gets a second home in

http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o566/kanegan/TEW/T-verse/POW_zpsa14688f1.jpg

You have a network run promotion and an all-female unit

Then there are small promotions dotted around different territories trying to carve out a legacy for themselves.

Greg McPeterson, or the Highland Warrior to many, was a man that watched his Men of Steel Combat company fizzle out and consumed by 21st Century Wrestling back in 2010. Since then his son has disappeared from the wrestling world and Greg himself has been hard to find aside a few small shows where he does autograph signings and bitches about Jeff Nova. He is also usually drunk and has been known to throw punches at cheeky fans.

http://imageshack.us/a/img18/1102/britishsamurai.jpg

Robert Brown, or British Samurai, suffered a similar fate when his Ring of Fire promotion was purchased by Jeff Nova around the same time he acquired Men of Steel Combat. Robert has taken a bit of a higher road than Greg and has been silent about his seething hatred for Jeff Nova. Instead he has spent his time, and often anger, training students at his dojo.

Two men with different backgrounds with the same issues with the same man. While they never shared the ring together, the two men are friends and perhaps even more so after both had promotions they loved suffer the same fate in the same year. Time has perhaps just made them more bitter and the lack of any competition lead to one night of somewhat heavy drinking. Not rare for Greg, but very rare for Robert. Mass amounts of boozahol were imbibed and perhaps one of the worst ideas of the modern wrestling age began to hatch.

"For the last time, Bob! Men of Fire!"

"And I say bullocks. Ring of Steel Combat!"

"Why I outta just slug you in the mouf right now. If I am gonna be the 'owner' I should name it."

"We 'ave both been owners and look what shappened. W...we need shumshin elsh."

"Like what?"

"Someone we can control, but ahh, they run the booksh."

"You aren't thinking what I'm...."

"I got hish numbersh on the...the phoney thing. Get another round."

This is a story how one man should have stayed in bed and never accepted a drunk dial from two of his wrestling 'friends'.

Greg McPeterson and Robert Brown are Owner #1 and Owner #2

Featuring: !?!?!?! As Booker

Star in!

Once in a while... A new writer comes along and attempts his first EVER diary... It's not much, but it's okay... Wrestlemania is on the way, so I thought I'd post the four Main Events, with a link to the first page of the diary... if any new readers want to get involved in the prediction prize game, do it... Prizes are pretty good...

Daniel Bryan vs Kurt Angle with Ken Shamrock as a special guest enforcer to keep The Corporation out...

2 out of 3 falls

http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/KenShamrock_zps9fa264c8.jpg

If you were to take a poll when Kurt Angle returned to the WWE of who the WWE Universe would most like to see ‘The Olympic Gold Medalist’ face off against at Wrestlemania... You can guarantee that Daniel Bryan would be high up on that list... This match came about when Daniel Bryan started using the ‘Ankle Lock’ to finish matches. Kurt Angle took exception to this, and the two men engaged in a bitter feud which has featured some excellent action. To keep Kurt Angle’s Corporation from ruining this 2 out of 3 falls match, Smackdown General Manager, Booker T, has enlisted the help of Ken Shamrock. But will he be enough to stop The Corporation...?

‘The Great White’ Sheamus vs ‘The Great Darkness’, The Undertaker

20-0... The Streak is on the line...

http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/Sheamus_zps1b4f0c94.jpghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/VS_zpsfe9c2a1d.pnghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/TheUndertaker_zps098971de.jpg

‘The Celtic Warrior’ Sheamus entered the Elimination Chamber Match last month as one of the favourites to win, and go to Wrestlemania to face the World Heavyweight Champion... He went on to make the first three eliminations, before being caught with a Brock Lesner ‘F5’... So once he knew he wasn’t going to be fighting for a title at ‘Mania, and with rumours circulating that the Irishman was due to take some time off... Sheamus made a shocking announcement... and he challenged ‘Taker to put his streak on the line... It took Undertaker a long time to say yes, and ‘The Deadman’ used plenty of underhanded tactics to try and take Sheamus out before the event. But ‘The Dublin Destroyer’ stood firm, and the match was finally confirmed this week. Who will win this epic battle? ‘The Great White’ or ‘The Great Darkness’...?

WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Dolph Ziggler © vs Randy Orton

‘The Show Off’ vs ‘The Viper’

http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/WWE_World_Heavy3_zps35a0f2f8.jpghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/DolphZiggler2_zpse9bbc041.pnghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/VS_zpsfe9c2a1d.pnghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/RandyOrton2_zps0b1a411c.jpg

Randy Orton earned his way into this match by winning The Elimination Chamber Match last month. He beat six other people including the likes of Sheamus and Brock Lesner, but his victory came at a price... He decided to go cold turkey on Ryback, and his team of warriors, who were, at the time, deep in a feud with The Shield... He turned down a spot on Ryback’s team, in favour of an opportunity to earn his match... It paid off, and the fans still love Orton... There were just a few weeks when his loyalty was in question, but now ‘The Viper’ will look to stop Dolph Ziggler’s World Heavyweight Championship reign before it’s really begun... This should be a great 1 on 1 match-up, but what role will Dolph’s Girlfriend AJ Lee play at ringside...? And what about The Champion’s Bodyguard... Big E Langston...?

WWE Championship: The Rock © vs John Cena vs CM Punk

Corporation Leader Vince McMahon is the Special Guest Referee...

http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/WWE_Heavy_zps0af27521.jpghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/TheRock_zpsa6ed5998.jpghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/VS_zpsfe9c2a1d.pnghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/JohnCena_zps68aa64bc.jpghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/VS_zpsfe9c2a1d.pnghttp://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/CMPunk_zps0e924788.jpg

http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q735/bazzalloyd86/WWE%20Diary%20100x100/Preview/VinceMcMahon_zps88a58d61.jpg

Originally, this match was scheduled to be WWE Champion The Rock, taking on Royal Rumble winner John Cena. However, after a controversial end to The Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View, CM Punk demanded to be given the chance to earn his way back into Wrestlemania 29... ‘The Straight Edged Saviour’ managed it, and the match was booked... The Rock would defend his WWE title against John Cena and CM Punk... But Smackdown General Manager Booker T, and RAW General Manager Shawn Michaels, both agreed that this match needed a clear winner... So, they decided to award someone the job of being the Special Guest Referee... A triple threat match was held, with three men TJ Wilson, Kurt Angle and Ryback, representing a potential referee... Corporation Member Kurt Angle got the win, and now, Corporation Leader Vince McMahon is our Guest Referee... The Corporation have been promising us for weeks that their numbers will grow at this historic event... But who will be their newest member...? Will we see someone from this match join up with McMahon and his pals...?

Just having a little check in case anyone fancies some sort of collaboration i.e not necessarily a multi player but a diary where we join creative forces. How easy it would be in practice I don't know but in theory it could be great to have a diary with 2 or 3 committed writers where content could be posted often.

Anyone is interested at all then feel free to message me.

Might as well post the preview for the second arc of KP Avatar's story, which will begin in-game June 2013. That should be up before the end of April.

SWF: Sunday Nights Counting Lights - The Continuing Saga of KP Avatar

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/DawntheCheerleaderalt.jpg

"KP's different from other men I've dated. I may have grown up quite sheltered and privileged, but KP's working-class background, down-to-earth, positive outlook on life and friendly, outgoing nature endeared me to him. He's like a younger brother, best friend and boyfriend all rolled into one. Sure beats dating yet another airheaded male model or dirty old businessman old enough to be my dad. WOOOOOOOO!!!! GO KP!!!!!!"

- Dawn the Cheerleader, KP's girlfriend/The Awesomeness manager/Uprising announcer/backstage interviewer

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/CharlesAvatar.jpg

"Couldn't be happier to have that little rascal as my brother. If not for KP, I'd have no reason on Earth to watch Uprising. I'm proud of you, bro! Keep counting 'em lights and reachin' for the stars!"

- Charles Avatar, KP's brother/former TCW and USPW enhancement talent

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/AshCampbellalt_zpsada67e04.jpg

"Apart from Cam, who's been playing drums since his teens, and KP, who sang in the church choir and played rhythm guitar for a Rage Against the Machine cover band in high school, there is no talent in the Psychedelic Garage Jobbers. No talent whatsoever. Hey, Josh...you know I was just kidding about Tracy...she's getting back in the groove...Josh? Don't Butterfly Lock me now...NOOOOO!!!! (taps out)"

- Ash "Asher Ginsberg" Campbell, Psychedelic Garage Jobbers bassist/SWF Superstar

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/NickyChampion_alt.jpg

"A good man. He and his brother are Nicky Champion guys."

- Nicky Champion, SWF Superstar

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/RobbieRetroalt_zps39c5610d.jpg

"It was KP's idea that I wear that 'PUSH ME' headband. At that time, I was sick of the IWC calling me 'Jobbie Retro' or worse, 'Jobbie Jethro'. You know who else is named Jethro? Giant F---ing Redwood. Anyway, KP lifted my spirits and helped me make a joke out of my status. Now my time in the SWF may not be that much longer, but as long as I'm in there, I know I've got a friend in that guy. KP Avatar is DY-NO-MITE! Too bad Robbie Retro's Lava Lamp got cancelled after its 100th webisode."

- Robbie Retro, SWF Superstar

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/SpencerSpade_alt.jpg

"For some time, I used to hate KP. A lot of us did. We thought he was sucking up to Peter, sucking up to Mr. Eisen, getting too much attention for a young rookie. But you know what? That's what being friends with Big Smack Scott will do to you. Kinda rubs people the wrong way, because you know how that man is. The Punch Heard 'Round the Wicked Game sure changed the way we thought about KP, because at least as far as us rookies are concerned, none of us want any part of that stupid Klubb."

- Spencer Spade, SWF Superstar

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/EricEisen_alt3.jpg

"He has the speed of a Manny Pacquiao, the grace of a Muhammad Ali and the power of Iron Mike Tyson. I gotta give it to you, KP, you could have revived the heavyweight boxing scene. But you see that name near the top of the Klubb's hit list? That's you. Here's the deal with the Klubb. We make sure everyone's well-taken care of, that the locker room's needs aren't neglected. We're like the union the SWF has never had. We stick up for each other, but if we find out you're against us? That's committing backstage suicide, brother. We're kinda like a fraternity, kinda like my kayfabe Entourage, but unlike the Entourage, we're backstage babyfaces. And that's more than enough."

- Eric Eisen, SWF Superstar/SWF Chief Operating Officer

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/BigSmackScott.jpg

"KP Avatar? F--- him!"

- Big Smack Scott, you all know who he is.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm87/endshiftresign/TEW%202013/KPAvatar.jpg

It's been five months since I wrestled my first match in the SWF, a match where I got potatoed mercilessly, yet surprisingly meshed well with a guy who no one else seemed to jell with in the ring, "Big Smack" Scott Sinclair. In the beginning, Scott was my best friend in the locker room, and I paid for it by losing the respect of the rookies and getting ignored even more by the veterans, Christian Faith and Tom Gilmore being the most notable exceptions. My being a new addition to the creative team didn't help matters any. I had heat with almost everyone, man, and even my old schoolmate from Detroit Hannah Potter saw me as the Devil's second in command, with the Devil being none other than the Smacker.

But thanks to a single punch to the face, a punch that I followed up with a Switchblade Powerslam borrowed from Kurt Laramee, the heat slowly went away. The rookies and vets who couldn't stand Eric Eisen knew which side of the fence I was on. But that punch, in a way, slowly ended my friendship with Big Smack Scott. Scott was suspended at that time, but when he came back, I already had a new set of friends, the friends I should have been hanging out with since day one. Pretty soon, he was unraveling. The drug suspension seemed to make Scott even more defiant as his actions continued to draw heat. He was drinking and 'roiding it up like no other. He did quite a job on Cam Vessey's rental car, and only paid him a measly 50 bucks for the damages. He assaulted a couple of bouncers at a gay bar because he felt like it. With every opportunity he got, he tried to make my friends look bad. Not to mention my girlfriend, Dawn the Cheerleader. As we continued dating en route to becoming officially boyfriend and girlfriend, Scott was like a spurned suitor, calling Dawn all sorts of names behind her back...and even when she was in his presence.

But nothing, I mean nothing, topped The Plane Ride to Disaster.

[redacted on preview]

Well, here I am now. It's June 2013, and I've turned over a new leaf. Yes, I'm still counting the lights every Sunday night. But I've finally forgiven Nicky Champion, the man who accidentally injured my brother Charlie and left him quadriplegic. We get along great, I'd have to say. I've got a wonderful girlfriend, lots of friends in the locker room, a tight "posse" of fellow rookies, including some who play with me in a band, and I'm slowly getting more of a say in creative. Sure, Eric Eisen's Klubb is in there, but who am I to complain? Everyone has to deal with the Klubb. Most rookie wrestlers pay their dues by doing jobs and getting a crappy pay for lying on their back night after night after night.

Life in the SWF is good. But the challenges, believe me, they still remain.

In 2012 the wrestling industry was in the midst of a revolution.

World Wide Wrestling Entertainment have been the dominant force in American professional wrestling for decades, but face new challengers such as the Lothario backed EVOLVE Pro Wrestling, "Hardcore Legend" Casey Skyrim's American Steel, and former WWWE writer Shane Allman's Pro Wrestling Integrity.

However this diary is not about them. The wars here are more than just wrestling, they are titanic battles of galactic importance fought by men, machine, and mutant. On one side, the mighty Trilltech Corporation who exert their authority with deadly force, opposed only by a ragtag group of Rebels united in their cause of bringing the corporation down.

I was referring to images and those things, i'm not really good with images, and of course i have TEW and imagination. But Thank you then.

There were a couple of great diaries from TEW2010 written by TakerNGN74 and Charasmatic Enigma. Both were done very well without pictures and images.

Taker's CGC link:

Good luck!

What do you folks think of this idea I'm contemplating? I'm currently taking Genadi's 1994 mod and watching it up until present day, and then I think I might take over one of the big US or Canadian promotions when it catches up. (currently looking to be WCW, since WWF went out of business) Some things to keep in mind:

-I run a much drier diary than seems to be the norm here. No pictures or fancy backstories, and show writeups are on the short side as well.

-I do try to go into a decent bit of detail about what else is going on in the world, though, especially with a game like this.

-It would be a secondary game to play between turns of the multiplayer game I'm running, so updates might not be frequent, but they should be fairly consistent once I get rolling. On the offchance somebody remembers my previous attempts from years ago, I'm much more used to playing and diarying this game now, so it's unlikely that I will fizzle like I did before.

-Possibly a prediction contest with some chances to wreak havoc on my booking

-Lots of info on the landscape interspersed throughout

What's the verdict? Any ideas?

PSW Danger & Violence: 10 Years On!

PSW's tribute on the ten year anniversary of DAVE's demise...

...

Mitch: "And Acid has done it, he has once again retained the PSW Championship. Against all odds he has done it!"

Braun: "Showing why he is our greatest and longest-serving champion ever, he never gives up... can he be beaten?"

[As Acid gets up to his feet, someone in a black jacket and sunglasses walks out from behind the curtain...]

Braun: "Wait a minute... is that?"

Mitch: "That's Big Cat Brandon!"

Braun: "What is he doing here? And is... that's the DAVE Unified Championship draped over his shoulder."

Mitch: "I haven't seen that man in 10 years!"

[by now Brandon has a microphone.]

Brandon: "Acid... that belt you hold so proudly... it don't mean sh*t. Because real east coast only recognizes one championship... [pointing at it on his shoulder] the DAVE Unified Title."

Mitch: "The final ever DAVE champion is in the building! And he wants our championship."

Braun: "Exactly 1 decade, 10 years since DAVE's collapse, Big Cat Brandon is here to reclaim his territory!"

 • 2 weeks later...

I was looking over everyone's diaries here and see how much fun some are you having, and dangit, I thought it would be fun too!

I don't see a TCW Diary on here, and seeing that I haven't enjoyed any company more than TCW right now, I figure that's a good place to go. Unfortunately, I don't really have time to dive deep into the real world mods and such. I wish I did. But, I enjoy nothing more right now than coming home after work and putting together one or two TCW shows.

So, I'm going to hop into the diary in November 2013, give a quick summary of what has happened for the first 10 months, and then try to give an update after every PPV Show.

I think I'm going to call it "TCW: Making Mr. Cornell Proud." Seeing that Cornell seems to want his nose in everything!

THE CRIPPLER AND THE CARNIE

"Happy birthday, kid!"

"Thanks, Ray," I said entered the house of the legendary Ray Kingman. I still marked out a bit every time I saw him. Me and Ray had know each other for over two years now, talked for countless hours and I had even been to his house for dinner numerous times but he was still the "Crippler Ray Kingman!"

"The big 1-8, huh? It's been a while since I hit that mark but I remember it like it was yesterday. You get anything good this year?"

"Eh, not really." It was technically true since I hadn't really received anything. Donavan's Circus had just closed up shop in and was ready to move on to the next stop on their tour that day so I hadn't had much time to celebrate. Not that I really would have anyway, only a few of us had been picked up to continue with the tour when my old troupe had been gutted by Donavan's, so the only people I really knew were a couple of racist clowns and a handful of the Oddities, neither of which made for great company. I had decided to spend what little time I had to myself visiting Ray before I left town.

"What? That's ridiculous; you need to have a great present on your eighteenth birthday! I knew mine was gonna outshine them all, but I didn't know it was gonna be this easy," The old man said as he did a half wheeze, half laugh sort of thing. "Come this way I got something to show you!"

"Ray, if you got me a stripper one of us is going to have to leave!" I joked following the old man as he excitedly hurried into the other room. On the dining room table was a box wrapped in vintage TCW Rip Chord wrapping paper, the old man had a sense of humor. "Rip Chord, really?"

"**** 'em! Just open the damn thing!" Ray told me as he sat down. I didn't trust the gleam in his eye which I had only ever seen before shine whenever we were talking about the old territory days. He was so excited you think he was the one getting the present. I tore into the wrapping and was immediately taken back by what was shinning back at me.

"Ray, what the f...?"

"Ha!" The old man exclaimed, clapping his hands and leaping to his feet. "Bought it off a collector about a month ago. Guy almost seemed happy to sell it me."

"You sure it's legit?"

"I carried the damn thing for over a year, trust me that's the genuine article!"

"You're right, this was one hell of a present!" I said tearing off the last off remnants of Rip Chord's visage from Ray's gift.

"Oh, heh heh, that's not the present," Ray said now grinning ear to ear. "That's just something we're gonna need if we are gonna make your present last."

"Huh?" I asked. Ray could sometimes be a little off from all the blows to the head throughout the years, but today he seemed more lucid than ever. Ray reached over and grabbed the twelve pounds of gold from me. Even after almost forty years he still held it like it was made to be worn by no other.

"Kid, you and me are putting the APWF back together."

History of Professional Wrestling

Prologue

It's the year 1908. The world is changing at a quick pace and with it comes new sports. One of those sports was Professional Wrestling. A 35-year old man named Hiruzen Aoki was the one who decided to start the whole business. One cold sunday morning in December of 1907 he was watching sumo training at a local training ground when he saw something that changed his whole life.

Two of the wrestlers were practicing their skills in a small spar where they told what they were going to do next. Hiruzen got closer to the wrestlers and watched them closely. That was when he saw his future. He wanted to create a new sport which would be scripted and would feature realistic action.

A few weeks after the happening he decided that this is it. He set up Japanese Championship Wrestling and this is the history of JCW and the rest of the modern wrestling.

(OOC. So yeah. I decided to do a TEW 13 diary after finally buying it. I couldn't decide which promotion to play so my choice was to create a watcher game right from the beginning.)

------------

Chapter 1. Settling In

1.1 The First Ones.

In the beginning of the 1908 Hiruzen Aoki began to advertise his upcoming business and by the end of March he had already gotten a roster of ok wrestlers. They were young and interested in the sport and they would be the true pioneers of Professional Wrestling.

March turned to April and Aoki thought it was time to have the first event. It was called JCW Strength Test. The show only drew 18 people to the crowd but it was seen as a complete success. JCW even crowned champions at the event and so we had the first champions in the business. Here is the card in full:

JCW Strength Test

Attendance: 18

Ryoichi Hyata went to a double count out with Kyuso Mashita (27)

Yoshihisa Kashiwagi defeated Yoshiteru Aida (25)

Kyushichi Kawai defeated Hiruzen Aoki for the JCW Triple Crown title (42)

Show Rating: 37

After the show Hiruzen Aoki had a small interview in the local newspaper where he advertised their next event and gave a brief description about Professional Wrestling. This was the first time Wrestling was talken about in the media. People saw Aoki as a fine young man with a dream and the interview gave a brief boost to the company.

However the buzz about JCW calmed down before they held their next event. They continued from where they started and held shows monthly for the rest of the year.

So, what do you people think? What could be done better?

I asked this in the small questions thread, but I figured it might be better on this one...

What would be a good prestige & momentum hit for a company where the owner goes through a very messy (and public) divorce?
